It does look like Thanksgiving! I just made your bars and can't wait to cut into them in the morning. I did use lard in the shortbread, that being the only difference I made. Along w a little sea salt in the shortbread. I had to use 2 smaller bar pans because I didn't have the right large size. So I was able to sample a small piece after setting but before placing in the refrigerator overnight. And it was so amazing. Not too sweet. And the lard was delicious in the shortbread. Thanks for my new forever recipe.

I love Pecan Pie and the bars are just as delicious...they're great if you don't want as much of the gooey center as with an actual pie. This is a Land O Lakes Butter recipe and I find it is one of the better ones I've tried. Thanks for watching new Friend!

I hope you do and please let me know how the recipe turned out for you! I think the key is to mix the shortbread just until you have crumbs, and also to thoroughly mix the eggs in your filling so that some of the egg does not cook once it is poured onto the partially baked crust. Also, it is very important to check for doneness early... maybe at 28 minutes... since all ovens are different. Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!

They look delicious! I will make these! Thanks for the tips on how to tell when they are done. I over cooked my pecan pies as they didn’t explain how to tell when it’s done. Only said it won’t jiggle in middle!

You're welcome...I know how disappointing it is to put in all that effort and then have something not turn out just right! I hope you do get to make them...they are delicious. Since all ovens are different and most have hotspots, I turn mine halfway through the baking and I also check for doneness early...say at 28 minutes. Much success to you!

This has a shortbread crust and the recipe is for a 9x13 inch pan. I’ve never halved the recipe, but the closest size pan would be an 8x8 for this volume.

I use Lyle’s Golden Syrup and light brown sugar for my pecan pie bars.😋

I’m always afraid of pecan pie recipes as most of the time they are way too sweet. Would it help to cut the brown sugar in half? Thanks!

I would reduce the corn syrup to 1 cup, rather than reducing the brown sugar. I have not tried that, but I think that would reduce the sweetness significantly, without affecting the structure of the bars. Please let me know how that works if you do try it.
