Ivone Portillo that's right, she is taking care of her glory. The Bible states that a woman's hair is her glory and that it is a shame for her to cut it . There is no vanity in this young lady. She is just obeying the scriptures.

Well, if you stop to think that Pentecostal women can’t wear makeup and jewelry, and that their long hair must be put up, it’s not vanity for a girl or grown woman to take the time to arrange her hair in a decent, Godly manner. She went at her hair like a woman on a mission. And look at the beautiful smile on her face when she’s done!

Beautiful young lady... Beautiful hair do...Very nice of her to take the time to show others how to do what she did. I am a 47 year old man and, I can appreciate a good human being. Whoever your God is and whatever religion you practice, I have never come across a God or religion that welcomes, invites, incites and forgives such negative criticism as I'm seeing here in the comment section. BTW: I have no God and I follow no religion BUT, I do know about respect. Can we all just let others be happy even if they find such happiness in ways we may not agree with ?

The actual "covering" is in her submission to the authority God has placed her under. The hair on men and women symbolize that submission. Hence, the point is one's submission, not the literal length of the hair. For women, their uncut hair symbolizes their submission, whereas a man's short hair symbolizes his submission.

I have to say any true christians,Christ-like, wouldn't be pointing fingers at all for any reason. She put it here for people like me trying to find super cute fun hairstyles. I think pentecostal women do some of the cutest hairstyles.But referring to the comment of platting hair and what the Word says, it has alot to do with the intent of your heart! Are you doing it to please you husband? for others to notice you? to simply be doing cute hairstyles? God knows the purpose! In that part in the Word if not mistaken it was also talking about husbands and wives and their relationships. It didn't want women fixing up to be someone they are not and trying to get looks and attention from other men. Thanks for sharing this video. It def gave me a style I will try. God bless you all!

Here's a technique: Section off front and sides. Put up in your usual manner. Then, gather the remaining hair into a low ponytail. I use a barrette. Then, brush the ponytail smooth. Next, pull that hair up towards the crown of your head, and pin it in place up high with a second barrette UNDER the ponytail. So you will have a high up flow of loose hair that covers that 2nd barrette. Finally, gather that loose hair at the very end with a rubber band, and roll it under and pin it in place. Fan out the hair to cover the pinned up portion that goes from the first barrette to the 2nd barrette. Makes a large bun. Takes about 5 minutes, stays tidy all day.

It is not a requirement for ladies to put their hair up but it does make your day easier to do so. There are a lot of challenges that come with long hair. It gets caught up in things, it's easy to sit on, and when your cleaning the house you definitely don't want to bend over and let it fall in the tub or toilet or somewhere as equally nasty!

The "pentecostal" hair styles you see on You Tube are not seen in traditional pentecostal churches. Those women abandoned long hair (for the most part) forty years ago. The styles you see illustrated here are referring to the United Pentecostal church almost exclusively. The UPC has no identity with traditional pentecostal or protestant churches in that they do NOT believe in the concept of the trinity. (In other words, NO Father, Son, Holy Spirit as such). Classical pentecostal churches strongly denounce the UPC church and all of its arbitary doctrines while classifying it as a "cult".
@jessicawhatley29019 жыл бұрын
This is half true and half not. The Assemblies of God Pentecostal church I go to is in the Dallas metroplex, so it's a lot more urban and therefore has a lot less of the big hair. However, I know a lot of people from other churches (from my state and in nearby states) who I've met at camps and stuff, and I've noticed that in some of the more rural churches, they still have a lot of Pentecostal-ish hair. Also, when a lot of churches come together for camps and conventions, almost all of the girls do their hair up. What I've noticed, is that a lot of the non-UPC pentecostals take the pentecostal styles but tone them down. About half of the girls do some type of curls or updo or whatnot but don't have a poof, while the other half have a poof but usually (however not always) tone it down so the style is less big and extreme. The hair I see at camps tends to look like bridal hair with a little bit of pentecostal influence. I personally like to do these types of styles but toned down some. I love teasing and poofs, but I'm not a fan of the huge poofs that look unrealistic and somewhat Dr. Seuss-ish, so I like to take the same styles but give them a messier, more modern look that's more wearable. I've heard of this (jokingly) being referred to trinitarianizing a style. Also, I know some girls who wear a done up hairstyle 24/7, but the majority of them only do their hair up for church services (unless they're an older lady - in which case they usually wear the same style all the time). (:
@uriahpeep90366 жыл бұрын
Krystan: You need to read closely what I said above: I SAID the United Pentecostal Church does NOT believe in the Trinity. The traditional Pentecostal church like all protestant churches DOES believe in the Trinity. Being able to correctly divide the word is a spiritual gift you ought to seek after. If that is not possible, just learn how to read plain English.
@emilyatkins51795 жыл бұрын
Okay. A cult gives, “requirements”, and “order”. Hairstyles are NOT a requirement nor are they and order. Personally, I fix my hair because I feel like I should show Jesus that I love him enough to spend my time on looking presentable in the house of God. The house of God/ Church, is a sacred place. If I walk in with stringy hair, I would feel out of place. So, it’s not a requirement, it’s wanting to please God.
@emilyatkins51795 жыл бұрын
To answer your response in The Father, the Son, and The Holy Ghost, is quit simple. God is all of these things. He’s God IN the Father, He’s God IN the Son, and He’s God IN the Holy Ghost. The Church’s you’re talking about present him more in a God Head type of concept. We present him as all 3 in one. You might be a father to your child, or you might be a son to your father, but your NAME is not Father, or son. The same goes with Jesus. Yes He’s our Father, but His NAME is JESUS.

Let's just get down to the real root idea of what long hair means to the UPC church. We all know that the Bible says that a woman's hair is her glory. But, go inside the mind of groups like the UPC and the Fundamental Mormon church who stress uncut hair for the woman. To all of these groups, this hair to them has turned into a "symbol" which they have embraced as an IDOL in the world of flesh. In other words, they worship such symbols and look upon all other women with a sense of disdain and reproach; these groups take on the role of the Pharisee that Jesus had some harsh words for. The "Pharisee" mind set loves to make fleshly symbols into a kind of pseudo-spirituality. Like the Pharisee, they end up worshipping the symbol and in the process forget the heavenly Father of it all. If a woman desires long hair, so be it......but please do not make it into an idol that takes up time and thought and energy so that the more important things are neglected in the spiritual life.

As someone raised Pentecostal, one thing I don't understand (simply because it makes no sense) is that, why do Pentecostal chicks appear to have more pride in their clothes and hair than my pants and t-shirt wearing self? Do Pentecostals know the first people who wore pants were actually Asian women? Women invented pants. So clothes that pertain to a man is actually long robes or dresses. Let's move past the costume and "the look." Reach out to people. Stop fearing so much. Stop closing yourselves off to the bigness of God. Too. Much. Fear. Too much worrying about what other humans are thinking. Reassess this tradition. After all that is what it is. A man-made tradition. Where the spirit is there is liberty. No liberty unless you look exact like them. It's a shame. I've seen people kicked out for wearing rings. Kicked out of the choir for trimming their hair. I have a lot of set backs about being in the Pentecostal club.

I am from Mennonite background... am Pentecostal now... I don't understand how we can read the Scriptures that tell us a woman's adornment is not to be that outward adornment of plaiting the hair... and then put so much time into getting our outward hairdo into an elaborate attention-getting style. It just seems to be precisely what God says not to do. Of course, God wants us to be neat and clean... but our attention needs to be on spiritual things, not hairdos and fancy clothes.
@rusher19779 жыл бұрын
+polly jetix Are you serious? Okay then. Hey all you ladies watching this video just never mind with making your hair look pretty, just let it be straight without doing anything so you can have an extra ten minutes to reflect on spiritual things. Oh and no fancy clothes either. We wouldn't want anybody to think we were evil devil worshippers because we wanted to look nice and God knows only evil devil worshippers want to look nice when out in public or church. Oh and one more thing: It's not okay to spend so much time on your hair but it's perfectly alright to spend time watching youtube videos of other people doing their hair and then criticize them.
@pollyjetix20279 жыл бұрын
rusher1977 Please, I want a respectful conversation. I didn't say we ought to go around frumpy. I do believe we ought to be neat and clean, and even pretty... but what did God mean, when He told women to be modest and not to let their beauty be about outward things? Wasn't He saying to major our focus on inward beauty, instead of outward adornment? We like to think we can just have a checklist of "forbidden things" and then congratulate ourselves on keeping the rules, like no gold, etc. But though we avoid glittery fake jewelry, yet we will wear glittery sweaters and shoes... Isn't that quite hypocritical? We will avoid makeup, but then spend a lot of time curling our eyelashes, and tinting our nails, to make them look different from how God made them. What's the difference? Isn't God looking at the heart? What is in the heart, that drives women to spend so much time trying to adorn the outward appearance? And isn't this what God was talking about? What did He mean by the following Scriptures: I Peter 3:3,4 I Timothy 2:9,10 I'm not asking what DIDN'T He mean. I'm asking what DID He mean.

***** A culture of condemnation is difficult to grow out of. I don't want to put anyone else under condemnation... Let me explain myself. I was raised with a strict upbringing, which told us women never to trim one hair. so we had to develop hairstyles that took a lot of time and care. I would love to help other women be free from such bondage.
@MusicFreak160008 жыл бұрын
One thing we have to look at when we're reading the Bible is the surrounding circumstance. The verses you brought up from 1Timothy are Paul writing to Timothy who was in an area that was dominated by demon worship. The women in those temples would wear extremely elaborate clothing and wear so much jewelry they could barely walk. They would even weave strands of gold chain into their hair (broided hair). That was the way they told everyone that they were "available". So as long as we don't dress like a street walker, I think we've got that covered! 😃 I grew up in, and am still apart of, the UPCI, so I know where you're coming from. But please understand, we don't have the right to go around jumping people because they don't follow our personal standards! You never know what God may be trying to do with them and their peer fussing at them may destroy that. Please hear my heart. I'm not trying to hurt you or cause an argument. I've just been on the receiving end of that too many times.

Long hair shows a woman's submission to the authority the God has placed over her. Father, then husband. The head you refer to is the husband. 1 Corinthians 11:3-5 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
@shellyblanchard57882 жыл бұрын
@@granjmy the thing about it is though this is Paul's point of view of why women should have long hair. Our faith in God is what saves is not the length of the hair. It was a culture thing that Paul wanted , but he said it was up to individual, he wouldn't have any contention over it. He only said it dishonored the head.

What difference is there with any "unsaved"girl that goes to style her hair at the salon?What about the flowers and other "accesories" "pentecostal girls"put on? Have you ever read how women from pagan nations did and adorned their hair? (Greeks, roman, babylon??) And they still do?What's the difference? You do it for Jesus and they do it for their idols? What's wrong with just combing your hair and wear your glory down and natural? God help us!!!

Wow. I bet God really loves that judgmental attitude of yours. I sure am glad that He has YOU to point all Christians in the right direction when it comes to hairstyles. I shudder to think what this world might become if Christians stopped judging each other and started lifting each other up and caring more about what's in the heart, instead of what's on the head. I mean....wow. Just imagine if Christians were Christ-like and loved EVERYONE with that kind of Christ-love. What a disaster THAT would be! I am so thankful there are people like you who are a shining example of how we should treat others -condemning a woman based on her hairstyle...while watching her video on how to create the hairstyle. Because that makes sense. *Eye roll* Look, I know you mean as well as you possibly can, but there was nothing edifying or loving about your comment. And I hope in the 8 months it has been since you posted this, God has poured His love into you so that your heart is softened toward His children.

Talk about judgmental! But I’ve the perfect hair style for you. My (female) friend joined the Marines and got herself the same shaved head as the guys. That way she wasted no time fixing it and keeping it clean was a cinch.
@granjmy2 жыл бұрын
What seems like vanity to you may simply be getting well groomed to another. This comes under the category of "work out your OWN salvation with fear and trembling." If you believe ladies are being vain, pray for them - a lot. Ask the Lord to judge your heart, and show you how to love the ones with whom you disagree. Ask the Lord to convict as needed, those who are adorning out of pride. I'm sure you will agree when I say, man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. I understand your objections, truly. I have often thought the same myself. But I have learned that every one of us has areas that only the Lord can change, can convict. I have learned- am still learning, actually, to pray for rather than criticize. Prayer will increase one's love. Criticizing will harden one's heart.

Non sense,why add burden to people,man made stuffs You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you. - Deuteronomy 4:2

My hair is Atheist Hair. It is without a belief in a deity. As a matter of fact, it just sits there and doesn't really seem to give a shit about god.

Everyone who doesn't believe in God now, will surely believe in God when they pass from this Earth. That's when you will be judged and sent straight to Hell, unless you become a believer before it's too late.

So God doesn't want you to cut your hair, but he doesn't mind all that vanity? This is usually the apostolic/oneness pentecostals. Most other Pentecostal denominations got over these crazy rules years ago. They are just ridiculous.

Looks pretty for an elegant event or formal. I see hair like this on Pentecostals for everyday wear like its the 1600's or something. It seems to be a religious law. Or everyone just following the pendacosal crowd. . Jesus doesn't care what your hair looks like. He's going to judge us by our deeds and fruit from the heart. (according to HIS laws of love (stated in sermon on mount). Not the laws of legalistic religious organizations.

Why do Pentecostals have this exact or very similar hair doo with the hair rolled up piece by piece or in a fancy bun? Is it to symbolise? I don't understand why? If cutting hair is a sin then why is it so rare to see them ever wearing it down? You might as well cut it short. Regardless, you shouldn't have to symbolise with appearance

It's only Pentecostal because being backwoods is Pentecostal.

Not like this unbelievers to day thinking that God changes, look at the woman today in their churches looking like JESEBELS and thinking that God hearse them...not knowing it abomination before the LORD

Doesn't the bible teach that women are to cover their hair in service with a scarf or a hat?
@granjmy2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Some interpret it to mean wear a covering in addition to long hair. Some interpret as the long hair being the covering. I'm of the latter opinion, because the verse actually says "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering."
