I was the band's LD for 1985 Beat The System tour. That stage set was brand new. We took delivery on 300+ PAR lighting system at Lights Up! Band new Avo QM 500 lighting console. We worked very hard touring the US. Poor ticket sales forced the band's management to scale back however. Greg Volz was an amazing stage prescence and the band delivered excellent music with a good message every performance.

I always loved Petra's songs and performances. The lyrics are so solidly Biblical, and the fact that they still have such good sounding voices well past their heyday of popularity is amazing. Most singers lose their high notes as they age, but not Volz and the others (who are singing harmonies even higher than Greg).

Greg Volz has one of the best voices in Christian rock IMO. Could really hit the high notes back in the day and even here he does at his age...amazing! This is a great tune, never really paid attention to the name Adonai before I heard this song the first time in the 1980s.

One of Petra's all time classics @jr Rj. Why make those negative comparisions? Greg does a fantastic job and so did Jon in his own way. Somgs like Creed and Beyond belief are all time classics too. And I could not imagine anyone else then John Schlitt sing those two songs. Just give both singers the credits they deserve for the things they did with Petra.
