I know right. All we had was Amy Grant 'Never Alone' from 1980 & an old Imperials LP. Then Michael W Smith came out with a couple a great albums - then we discovered Petra - 'Never Say Die' & 'More Power to Ya' and so so many more great Spirit filled bands. Not to forget the So Cal original 'Sweet Comfort Band' - which lacked Petra's legs - only an 11 year run 73-84, not 33 years, but those 11 years = 7 or 8 stellar Albums ! I still have a collection of 500+. Gospel Rock Jazz Pop Albums.... God used this music mightily in our lives...my 5 kids are fans of much of my 'old music' - Petra is their Favorite... PS the "Classic Petra - Back to the Rock - Album & LIVE Concert VIDEO from 2011 is GOLDEN. Greg X Volz & Bob H & band hadn't lost ANY of their ability.

The people at this are stunned to be hearing real all out rock n roll in the church!! I don't think they know how to react to it or if it's even ok to listening to it. lol. Back in 78 it was a big deal to have electric guitars or electric anything let alone drums. But God is bigger than the boxes people so often try to put Him in. I'm so glad he is too because we people so often get our flesh in the way. Even today many are wanting to put music in categories of what is Gods kind of music or not.

Taste and see that the Lord is good He's got milk and honey for you Come and dine at the Master's table, He'll serve bread and wine to you Well you tasted this and you tasted that But you still ain't satisfied You'll never find any peace of mind In those empty things you tried Don't be afraid of tasting something new Your soul is hungry, nothing else will do The bread of life will keep you satisfied You won't go hungry or ever be denied You've got to make up your mind And leave your old life behind you You know He'll take it away 🙌🏼🙌🏼🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️🌸🕊️🌸🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️🙌🏼🙌🏼 Teste et vois ! I always liked the first 2 albums they did and when Washes Whiter Than I gave it away because I thought foolishly that it was going to rock like the first ones. I suspected someone in the business back then told Volz and Hartman that they weren't going anywhere if they kept rocking out for Jesus.
@gregrumpff53924 жыл бұрын
Washes Whiter Than is definitely disappointing musically but I see it as a necessary evil. That first radio hit ("Why Should the Father Bother?") kept the band financially solvent enabling them to continue on to record more artistically rewarding albums down the road.
@charleshamby493 Жыл бұрын
I know, but the way that I actually see it is that so many managers in music do not realize that for to be a truly successful band you need to know that really Jesus really does rock, that's because in life at all Jesus is the Rock.
