My personal relationship with QI is that I use old episodes to fall asleep to practically every night. There's just something about it that feels soothing and comforting. I don't need to watch it either, it's just listening to it that knocks me out in 4-5 minutes almost without fail.
@js09882 жыл бұрын
I have the same with Seinfeld, just one second of that idiot knocks me out! But I'd rather be a wake for the rest of my life than to watch a second of Snoozefeild.

I think watching QI is a bit like listening to jazz. A theme is given and each member can riff with it in their own way, with wit, humour and intelligent speculation, but they play as a team. The combination of players in each episode often creates something bigger than the individual parts. Something like "Stephen Fry and the Alan Davies Quartet". This episode was a really good example.

Aztecs revered Mayahuel who was the goddess/patroness of Mezcal, Rabbits and fertility. It was said that she would feed the rabbits the off cuts from the mezcal would would make the rabbits go mad in a sex craze. Of course this was a explanation of why rabbits go crazy during their spring rut. But by the same coin that's where the term "mad as a march hare" comes from in English.

"chicken soup for the soul" is a perfect description of this show, exactly how it feels to me too. It's playful, friendly, well mannered and importantly, it's intelligent. Just my opinion but I think the population is more hungry for intelligent content that most television productions are willing to provide, because it's a business and they try to appeal to everyone, sadly.

Yeah, people and scholars in India were immensely intelligent with numbers. They did amazing things until one person, a king or religious figure of high status, turned around and said something like, manipulating numbers is evil... Then almost instantly the study of mathematics stopped. 1000s of the brightest minds stopped playing with number. It put science back centuries. If that one person had not said what he said then who knows where we'd be now. Imagine all the maths we know now was known 400 years ago... Or image us now knowing maths from 400 years in the future... Hover boards? Interstellar travel? more than 90% efficient renewable energy?

Well if one sperm cell contains 37.5 megabytes then the information in a normal ejaculation may 'technically' be measured in terrabytes the vast majority of it is just repeated information. Every reproductive cell (male or female) contains half the DNA of the parent to be paired with half the DNA of the other parent to make the next generation. If one sperm cell had the opposite half to another then those two cells would contain all the potential information from the father's cells, all the other sperm in that ejaculation would only have random copies of parts of those two. 15.8 terrabytes sounds like a lot but in this case it is a very large drive full of nearly the same cat video repeated over and over...
