What really stands out to me about this series is how they all, as a group, make being lovely and gentle very funny. It's not that I prefer this, just that it's extremely strange, especially for a panel show. Usually the standout seasons have one or two high energy people and everyone rises up to match them but here they even remain so lovely that it derails Greg's attempts to be an authoritarian at points, which is its own new treasure.

this is such a fun bunch, the final task is a proof of how weird their brains work. susan’s mischief task is one of my favorites, and it’s just the beginning of a certain facet of her personality coming out during this series :)

In Swansea there was a new licenced restaurant built next to the large duck pond. It was called 'The Inn on the Lake' we all called it 'The pub on the pond'. Eventually they renamed it the pub on the pond 😂😂

For what it’s worth, “Negative Gearing” is an Australian tax policy that allows losses from operating an investment property to be offset against income tax. I wasn’t sure if it was a thing outside Australia so I googled and apparently it exists in Canada, though it may have a different name so still worth commenting I guess?

I thought it was actually something to do with gear ratios, this makes much more sense.

The genius of Sam Campbell the Taskmaster Contestant is that his naturally chaotic personality (he's really like that outside of the show) lends itself perfectly to a low-stakes gameshow like this. With higher stakes, it'd be irritating how unserious he's taking things; but stumbling backwards through this particular show is hilarious *because* of how low the stakes are. He's allowed to be himself in the best circumstances. I've seen him on other comedy shows (primarily Australian ones; his homeland) and his style of zaniness is identical. I wouldn't be surprised if Alex & the producers saw him and brought him to the UK specifically for this series because of how good a fit he's proven to be.

Julian wrote letters to Stephen Mulhern (a popular, friendly, fun, and prolific game show presenter), and Jacob Rees-Mogg is a Conservative politician (usual targets for Julian), known for being a very droll sounding facist with Victorian qualities and opinions (he took his 'Nanny' campaigning with him at the age of 27, and I believe has literally said people should "stop being poor"). Also find Sam and Lucy amazing to watch. Sam seems to either say something completly out of the blue, OR gives you the expected responce sarcastically. "Are you a child of divorce" in episode 1 was an instant classic moment. Lucy, meanwhile, I think might actually have ADHD, but she when her head jumps to a random topic or story while talking to her (something I experience with my ADHD), she leans into it and let's it take you on a weird journey. Sam and Lucy actually make such a great pair, they started a podcast called Lucy & Sam's Perfect Brains.

Great reaction as usual. I have no doubt you would've gotten Widdicombe quickly. Your eagerness to see the Women's Institute clue says it all. (I remember you reacting to Only Connect) The 'James Bond' gadget Sam brought with him in the sword task I've seen him use in his stand up show. He had an egg on the end and dangled it over the audience (looked like tit was going to dribble, but it didn't so I'm pretty sure it was a fake egg). Yeah, he's definitively an odd one. And yet somehow Lucy is even odder.

Colorado and, I believe, several other states have 419.99 mile marker signs as people kept stealing the ones with the actual number on them. That'd be my submission for the prize task. Not the one with the actual number, but the "Mile 419.99" one. Which I'd have stolen. If it was just pictures of signs, though, as Julian submitted, it might be worth getting a picture of one of the signs advertising the McDonald's in the New South Wales town of Yass that consist of the golden arches forming the shape of an M followed by the name of the town in all caps. I think the Widdicombe sword task could only work when none of the competitors are fans of the show. John Robbins, Ed Gamble, or Richard Herring would have almost immediately recognised the foot or noticed his absence among the winners. The other clues were either less clear (anagrams) or hard to spot (roof) but easier for non-fans of the show.
