That Sakic goal is one I'll never forget. The crowd was cheering as soon as he picked up the puck.

Very cool crossroads with NYR approaching the end of their run, and QUE/COL at the beginning of theirs.

Would have been interesting to see how things would have turned out, had if Quebec not moved. But T.B.H., while it was bad that the fans of Quebec lost their team, moving to Denver was probably the best thing that ever could have happened to the franchise itself. That being the case since players suddenly wanted to play for their organization, while very few wanted anything to do with Quebec. Plus keep in mind the Avs at the very least would have never gotten Patrick Roy, since there's no way in Hell that the Habs would have ever traded him to the Nordiques for certain, no matter the circumstances too.

This is the final series the Nordiques ever played. Pretty cool to see the full game! Keep up the great uploads!

@@mrbob424 Yes it does, the NHL fandom that is. But that sleazebag Gary Bettman would rather put teams in Sun Belt locations where it doesn't belong (Arizona and Vegas) instead of bringing back the Nordiques to a traditional hockey market like Quebec City.
@freakyfornash2 жыл бұрын
@@sjdrifter72 At least he was surprisingly kind, and wise enough to let Winnipeg have their team back. You have to give him some credit for that at least, but still though! Plus keep in mind that the NHL's sunbelt experience began just before Bettman become the commissioner, even if he was the one who really accelerated it to the extreme however.

I believe it was the last ever home win for the Nordiques.

Actually Game 5 of that series was their last home win

We were told Quebec City could not support a NHL team...but this video shows a different story.. An electric atmosphere , thrilling game... Quebec City should have never lost their franchise.... meanwhile, for 25 years, the NHL has thrown away millions of dollars to prop up an Arizona franchise that has been a cash-sucking bottomless pit ....
@mrbob4243 жыл бұрын
It's called finances and unfortunately quebec couldn't compete especially with the Canadian dollar being too low to compete with the US dollar. The fans came though this series didn't sell out. Every game had tickets available which should never happen in the playoffs.
@sjdrifter723 жыл бұрын
You can blame Bettman for the Coyotes still existing in Arizona. It's ironic he did nothing to save the Winnipeg Jets but he goes through hell and high water to keep that franchise in the desert where they never should have relocated to.
@sjdrifter723 жыл бұрын
@@mrbob424 well, I guess those 'finances' you speak has not kept the Coyotes out of bankruptcy, hasn't it? That team has always had a cloud of uncertainty ever since moving to the southwest and any self respecting player not of retirement age would be nuts to sign with that team since they're never going to compete for Stanley Cups. It's a dead end street.

@@mrbob424 Québec would have been having as much success at the gates as the Jets if they would have entered been entering 10 years ago but they vibe isn't much there aymore and it would rather looks like Ottawa in the stands with atttendance from 10000 to many sell outs if they would have been having a good club, which is still better the many Southern teams. It's sure that Québec will never be like Toronto or Montreal.
@freakyfornash2 жыл бұрын
@@elGeant24 But Quebec City cannot possibly be any worse than Phoenix, and, Miami, and hell would no doubt even outdraw (North) Carolina, and Tampa Bay at the very least for that matter also.

Geoff Molson is blocking the project for years now, as he's influencial at the owners board. Would be great though, but the league played too much and people's mind and the thrill isn't there as it was 5-10 years before Bettman admit he never planned an expension or a move there with the Seattle, KC and Houston way in front of Québec.
