I loved those roast combos when I lived in Perth for a few months in 1974 after moving from Qld. Red Rooster was founded in Perth in 1972, but hadn't found its way east yet. Fast food anywhere was fairly rare back then.

We had Big Rooster here at the time. It was then later bought out by Coles Myer and re-branded as Red Rooster (1986).

That's usually my go to on the rare occasion we go there (usually they have run out of chicken by 6.30pm, so have to go elsewhere). I have always found the roast potatoes to be floury. It would be nice to be able to swap them out for chips! The orange things are carrots and they don't peel them. Sometimes you find them still with dirt on them! MMMMMM crunchy! I used to always go for the tropical pack, but they stopped putting the bananas in. It went from a banana and pineapple fritter, to one pineapple fritter. Love their gravy! You are lucky to get stuffing! I've watched them preparing meals. They cut the chook up, put it in the box, the stuffing falls out, so they sweep it into the bin! Even when you ask for extra stuffing, you get none.

Those roast dinners are usually pretty consistently good. Cant say the same for anything else at my local red rooster though, cant even get the chips right 9 times out of 10. Kinda want a roast dinner now tho lol

The original way of big rooster orders of the 70s early 80s before name change to red rooster. At my local big rooster you could also get the alfoil container full of chips with a ladel of gravy over it & then after a 15 minutes walk home & take the lid off it was fantastic.

The chicken dinner from Chicken Treat was alway my dads favourite which is pretty much the same as what your eating 2 Aussie except no sweet potato. Did not realise you could still get it, looks good probably smells good too. Good on you 2 Aussie glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍

I used to get their roast dinner years ago when it came with pumpkin, and loved it. I don't have one close by now. I love all the good food you have around you. My mum and sister lived in the Riff and we bought Red Rooster all the time, but once my sister went to get chicken and they had run out of chicken, WTF, as she said at the time, that's what they sell how could that happen, it was in the day as well, not at the end of service.

My local store often runs out of chicken. You go in at 7pm and they say they have run out. You ask when the new lot will be ready. Oh, we're not cooking any more. Must be a pain between 7pm and 10pm when you can't serve your customers.

Just a bit of steak from Woolworths will set you back over $10, then you have the vegetables etc., then cooking time, then washing up, this meal minus the rip-off drink is so cheap I can't believe it has escaped the Great Australian Ripp Off society off late, how long it will survive at that price???? before the management say we can get away with charging another $5 for that meal.

Red rooster gravy is terrible. Your tastebuds are shot. I got their sweet potato wedges last week, in a chicken dinner box. A third of them were still partly frozen. And their fried chicken, was dry as the Simpson desert. Never again. They can get rooted, well and truly.
