@@dannythomas417 I believe it was the Florida HC (now the Rags HC) that blew that series, he sucks! Hence why he’s been fired by the Florida Panthers (as a NY Isles fan, I root for the Florida Panthers) & the Las Vegas Golden Knights & I give him two more years. At least until the Rags get tired of him and his shenanigans! The Rags will fire him. I know HCs don’t play on the ice, but from what I can tell?? Gallant doesn’t implement ANY defensive system, at all? I’m not saying he should put soooo much emphasis on defence as Barry Trotz does! I’m one of the few Islanders fans that are happy Barry SNOTZ was let go! All Barry SNOTZ cares about is defence at the detriment of offence and his young players! Such as Robin Salo, Oliver Wahlstrom, Anthony Beauvillier etc. God forbid Oliver Wahlstrom or “Wahly” as we call him, made a defensive mistake! Wahly wouldn’t miss a shift or two, he’d get benched for the entire game & then a healthy scratch for the next game! The same went for all of our younger players on the NY Islanders. Yet, if a veteran made a mistake? They wouldn’t lose any TOI if anything? The veterans would get more TOI because SNOTZ was always benching our young talent! With Gallant, it seems to be all run & gun & no defence! Granted, he has Adam Fox and the great Netminder Igor Shesterkin to cover up a lot of the Rags' defensive flaws! Eventually, those defensive flaws, will come home to roost & rear their ugly head up when Igor is not playing & or when the Rags don’t make it to the SC Final under Gerard Gallant! That is my humble opinion.

This series really ripped my heart out because the 93 team had a good chance to three-peat, and Kevin Stevens suffered severe facial injuries which ruined his career. Had one more decent year then became addicted to pain killers (among other things) and became a journeyman. Islanders were playoff poison this was the third time they beat Pens by one goal in a winner take all game. It was also the last year I had season tickets as we couldn’t afford them and kids at the same time.

Didn’t a caps goalie give up a goal in the playoffs, similar if not worse than his 3-1 goal in game 7? To me it was similar bc of the similar career paths of the goalies which makes me think it might’ve been a young jolt by, although for some reason I think it was neuvirth, I’ll try to look it up. Regardless, those are the kinds of mistakes you just can’t make in the playoffs. Period.

No! Just no! When Pierre Turgeon played for the Canadiens, his nickname was the "Scarecrow." Why? Because when it came to the playoffs, he would have been a legend, "if he only had the heart" The Canadiens had a few lucky breaks. But it would not make a difference if any one of those, went the other way. Why? Patrick Roy was on a mission, he was not going to lose to Pittsburg or Toronto. Sure, the series' would have lasted longer but the end result would have been the same. It's happened many, many times, in NHL history. Go back and check. Go ahead and check. Argue all you want but I can't hear you. I have a couple of Cup rings muting out the arguments ;) To be serious for a second. In 93 Montreal lost game 1 and 2 in the first round(they had a 2 goal lead in Game 1, got cocky and blew it. They would not do that again). Anyhow, after the 2 loses, they won 11 straight games. They also won 10 straight in O.T. People can argue till the end of time but Patrick won 4 cups in his career and should have had a 5th in 89 but sometimes a moustache is stronger than an entire team. Lol I thought I said I was going to be serious. Guess not. Cheers from Montreal. P.S. Hope you can tell I'm messing around and don't mean anything personal. I'm just having a little fun.

tha'ts probably the biggest "what might have been" in the history of the Penguins franchise. Going for a three-peat, best season in franchise history, only President's Trophy in franchise history. The Islanders just had it going for those seven games, Glenn Healy played the best hockey of his life and the Islanders truly believed they could take down the juggernaut Pens. To score twice late in the third to tie game 7 only for an unfortunate pinch to create the winning goal for the Islanders...just a crushing loss for Pittsburgh. Its funny too, rookie d-man Darius Kasparaitis absolutely terrorized the Pens in this series, then 8 years later became a hero for Pittsburgh scoring the game 7 OT winner against the Sabres.

@Roman Legion Thanks for the kind compliment regarding my Oilers. I know how those Pens fans feel. I was absolutely gutted when the Flames beat my Oilers. Had they managed to get past Calgary there is no doubt they win their 3rd cup in a row. There's no way St. Louis and Montreal had a chance against us. Sadly it wasn't to be. The bright side is Edmonton rebounded to win 3 of the next 4 finals to finish with 5 cups in 7 years and probably would've won more if Gretzky wasn't traded. Oilers and Islanders were the 2 greatest teams of all time. Flip a coin on who was better. We were so fortunate to watch those teams. Cheers 🍻
