@@shacktimeHe actually isn't. He just believes things that is different from your beliefs. But small-minded people can't have an open mind and make fun of people that have differing beliefs. You're a nobody without any money commenting on Dad Aykroyd on a KZbin video with Dan Aykroyd in it. If Dan Aykroyd was batshit insane you would think he would not be that rich Maybe still have a few million dollars but there's plenty of comedians and stars from his era back in the '70s and '80s that have blown through their money and are poor nobody's now. Instead Dad Aykroyd has a net worth of 250 million because Dan Aykroyd is a very smart man and knows how the business of Hollywood work and has worked behind the scenes done different things but has branched out and opened other businesses One of them being the whole crystal skull vodka thing which you may like or not but it makes a lot of money because it's a novelty purchase for a lot of people. Sounds a little crazy when pushing it but isn't that what you want from your spokesman for the company someone who's really going to push it and talk the best about it. His interview on Joe Rogan really showed for an older comedian He's still a brilliant guy who knows how things work. I think you just don't like the fact that he believes in the paranormal or aliens other things like that but he explains on that show and in other interviews how he comes from a family of that He was born into a family of mystics. That's why he wrote something like Ghostbusters, That was his family background. But please tell me more how he's batshit insane.

he was a great writer, could have been a bigger celebrity except... he wanted a vehicle for himself. He wanted to be out in front than work from behind the scenes - where he would have still achieved fame, even had the public spotlight, interviews, etc - where his greater talents lay. It's really a shame.. he kept trying to chase Murray, looking for his big break but he was adamant about being on screen, it hurt his career (which wasn't bad by any means but it could have eclipsed Murray) in the long run.

when it was fresh, the comics had more control over the material and the studios weren't prepared for what they were putting on air... as it went on, it became a bit like a scripted reality show.. they'd bring in new comics, usually those that wouldn't make it as a standup on their own thus more willing to take the lower pay for the hopes they might get one crappy film and retire or slim chance it would open more doors rather than stain their careers. The show itself meddled too much and of course, so did the studio... and govt as well in different periods meddled as well. So, it will never be like it was... if anything, it's a career killer for most. The handful that escape it and become successes, usually do so because they have better life, financial planning and career management skills. Those that don't sputter out not long after they leave the show. Adam Sandler is one of the better examples, albeit his works were subpar - one of the faults being that many comics make better dramatic actors than comedic actors for film/tv... but creating his own studio and churning out multiple low grade comedies than focusing on obtaining competitive roles in major releases is what kept him float once his contracts dried up.

@@jakeervin2399 this is back when there was something worthwhile on Saturday night to stay up for. Now it all sucks and is not worth staying up for.

Seen the first part a million times, never the whole thing. Loved back when such material was perfectly acceptable

It wasn't particularly acceptable then, that was the kind of the point of the show

Even comedy is subject to cancel culture - a sad thing, really.

@@ecbenson98 If it wasn't acceptable, a) why did it air, and b) why did such skits turn SNL into a comedy behemoth in this era ? YOUR problem is that your delicate sensibilities and complete lack of a self deprecating sense of humour are the perfect metaphor for what is wrong with society today. Cancel culture is indeed a CANCER. And you're at Stage 4 sister. PS. I realise you might be a brother ... but trust me. You're a sister.

Hysterical!! The original cast and those early years were the essence of SNL. After Belushi, Gilda, Chevy, Bill Murray, Garrett, Aykroyd, Larraine, and Jane Curtin left, the show was never the same and definitely not as funny

Don’t forget Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy! 😊

Yes, you're right!! They were hysterically funny. But Steve Martin was never a cast member, and his first appearances on SNL predate Eddie Murphy's- Martin was often a special guest during the days of the original cast.

@stuarthecht8196 Steve Martin as the Elephant Man skits were some of the best! Sitting down on the couch talking to a beautiful woman next to him, "you should see why they REALLY call me the Elephant Man", as he put his Elephant nose in his martini drink.
