My favorite part about this video was the Dad at the end. I do the same thing with my Dad. I throw down in the kitchen, and I KNOW it tastes good.... but I'll have him try it and ask "is it missing anything?". I do it to my brothers too. It's never missing anything. I've made potato salad at least 20x before but here I am "studying" making sure I get it just right for a family function tomorrow. Thanks for this video, it made my day. 🙂

People seem to treat potato-salad the way people treat meat-loaf; a very good simple recipe is ruined by adding way too many ingredients. Girl does it right here. And like me, pepper is as important as the potatoes ! Beautiful vid. 👍

Jackie Reynolds This is one of those classic dishes that you innocently order in a restaurant and it comes with something the cook (cook, definitely not chef) adds that they think is really cool like pineapple or basil. I hate it when that happens. It makes god unhappy too.

Nothing beats a really good simple potato salad! A lot of people tend to complicate things by adding a bunch of unnecessary ingredients, but I personally think that detracts from the perfect simplicity of potato salad. The only thing I do differently is I use chopped pickles & a little pickle juice instead of sweet relish/salad cubes, bcuz I don’t like any sweetness in my potato salad 💜

The sweetness must be a southern thing. Never had it made with sweet pickles or sugar until we moved to the deep south. I'm from the south and we always made it savory. Never chopped up eggs in it either. They tend to become rubbery. We slice eggs into medallions and place them on top. We use kosher dill pickles and pickle juice in place of mustard. Never have any left. ( My daughter can make a meal out of it.)

With NO onions! WOOT WOOT! I do make mine while the potatoes are still warm because I like the texture a lot. I also put just a pinch of sugar in mine and no garlic. With all that being said this is the closest to mine I've seen and I'm far from Southern. Cool stuff. I forgot to say that I cook my potatoes whole and since I get to them when warm I just use a butter knife to scrape off the skin.

Perfect, easy to peel, hard boiled eggs: 1) Bring 3 inches of water to a FULL BOIL! 2) FROM THE FRIDGE take out the eggs and gently place them, one by one, into the BOILING water, using a slotted spoon. YES, straight from the fridge!! 3) Bring water back up to a ROLLING BOIL, and set timer for 13 minutes! 4) When timer goes off, take pot off heat and place in the sink, running cold water into the pot until eggs are cooled enough to handle for peeling. They should peel very easily, and... NO GREEN!

@@AverysApron I actually got this from another KZbin channel: Collard Valley Cooks; I think that's what it's called. 🤔 LOL But I tried this, and it has worked perfectly for me every time! Both with no green, and the peels just slide right off!
