I’m from Canada and my moms potato salad is pretty much the same, except green peppers are expensive here so my mom would use radishes. Next time I will use green peppers and give it a try :) Loved watching this it felt like I was in the kitchen with my mom. Thanks 👍

I fry my celery, green peppers, and onions before I add them to the salad to get some of the water out of them because the salad tend to become water logged the next day if not.😊

It’s 2 am and I just finished making this for Sunday dinner. Mrs. Mattie, THANK YOU SO MUCH for an awesome recipe. My family is going to love it! My mom uses the bell pepper as well and you are so right about the flavor it adds. One thing she also add is part sandwich spread (Kraft brand) and part mayonnaise (usually Duke’s). The sandwich spread has the relish and other seasonings that just seems to give the dish a little more kick 😉

thanks, yea i never had professional cooking lessons other than by cook for my mother after her health declined but as black folk it seems that we all use the same indegredents, I did work in management in various chain qsr early on training consistency in product methods prepration

Exactly correct to mention again and again that the seasoning ingredients: celery,onion and green pepper is diced as finely as possible as they are just the seasonings for the potatoes. Dicing the seasoning ingredients lets the potato taste come through and enhances the potato flavor not dominate . I hate bites of big chunks of onion and celery. Beautiful presentation.
