Tip for folks who don't have a sweet onion: if you soak a "regular" onion (red, white, yellow, etc) in cold water for 5 minutes after slicing that'll remove some of the enzymes that cause tanginess/bad breath.

This is cookout worthy 👍🏾😊 However every Black family has variations to this recipe but he definitely has the basics down. For instance some Black families would never use Miracle Whip or stone ground mustard. Some prefer Dukes or Hellmann's mayo, and for mustard Goldens Spicy Brown Mustard. Some only use sweet relish and not dill. Every Black family is different but I applaud the fact that Tasty has decided to set the record straight regarding potato salad that will get you in at the cook out.👍🏾😊💗

@@JW-qj3se German potato salad is vinegar based and served hot, not the same thing at all. That's like saying the Chinese invented lasagna because the noodle originated from China. I’d never considered leaving the skin on the potatoes, but I guess that’d help them hold their shape better. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I made this & everyone loved it. Only tweaks I did was use Frank's Xtra Hot & instead of paprika I garnished with cayenne pepper. Everyone still loved the subtlety of the heat as it was still balanced with the rest of the dish.

Yes people do put raisins in potato salad and it's a no no! My mom taught me to add a few caps of vinegar and the bowl is completely empty at the end of the night🤤

I put in some pickle juice and apple cider vinegar. I dress it when the potatoes are still hot, except for the mayo. That way the potatoes absorb everything.

I tried your recipe almost exactly the way you did it, and it was delicious. I had food for days. Yes! My mom really likes 🥔potato salad🥗 so I gave her some. She ate it, smiled, and said, "Did you put seasoning in this? " She knew I did! I said how dare you?! Then days later she was asking if any potato🥔 salad🥗 was left. 😉 I knew I did well.

My granny’s potato salad is very similar to yours! Except with the eggs. She cuts them up like you did and mixes them and then on the top she takes a dozen eggs and cuts them up in slices and puts them on top. It’s the best!
