Thanks for walking through both the process as well as how each pass develops. Still working on getting results with this style that are as pleasing as chameleon efforts. I just remind myself to think of it like Sailing ... it's about the journey.

It's a great thing when the journey is as exciting as the result.

Looking forward to trying this. Do you have any tips for placing very domey discs in a floetrol bed? I had a roadrunner that sat like a boat on the surface so I had to push it down a little bit, which distorted the edge. Would it have settled if I were more patient?
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
For discs with alot of dome If you want the dye to cover the disc completely the bed has to be fairly deep. I avoid pushing down on the edges for the most part to avoid distortion. The disc probably would settle if you don't push it down.

Whoa, so cool. I love it when you use a bright swipe colour. That aqua really pops. Weird question but do you have any recommendations for where to buy Floetrol in Canada?
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
Depending on where you live you might have to resort to Amazon and the prices there are not great

I've been curious about the overmolded discs. do the rim plastics not take die? or is there something you're doing to keep that part of the disc from taking color? Love all the videos. I'm definitely going to be dying a few of my discs in the future.
@LilbotDiscGolf2 ай бұрын
Overmold takes dye. If it's black you won't notice it though

Nice video! The disc looks amazing! Would it be possible to use an oven to heat instead of lamp?

Some people use a dehydrator. I wouldn't use anything you're going to be using to cook with after

Can you do this the same way but with elmers clear glue and Ritt dyes?

Wanted to make sure I understood the base layer, does this also have the oil it?

Oil in everything except the top swipe layer

You should try more of a pour art style, very fun and its gets the same or better results.

I've seen some other people use no silicone oil on the base colors but add it to the top pullover layer instead. Is there a big difference in results between the two procedures and will it look different if all colors had silicone oil?
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
Probably not a huge difference unless you're layering your base layers as well
@travisu5640 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the step by step walk through! Quick question - and I may have overlooked it if you mentioned it in your video - is there silicone in all the base layer colors, or just in the yellow swipe?
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
There is silicone in everything
@nunyabidness21434 күн бұрын
@@LilbotDiscGolf I'm confused, I thought you only put silicone in the swipe color. Wouldn't cells have started forming when the base layer colors touched if they had silicone mixed in them already? I'm new to dyeing.

A couple questions for you about this. Can you so this technique with a stamp,..ie. foil or any type of stamp without ruining the stamp. I see you used prochem dye, is this necessary or can I dye poly work as well.
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
You can certainly dye discs with stamps, but most stamps don't take dye. If you dye a disc with a stamp try incorporate the stamp into your work. Idye poly works fine, though I much prefer PCAD

How many times can you reuse a bed on average that Floetrol stuff is fairly expensive?

How do you go about not dyeing the rims on axiom/mvp discs? I did one for a friend and the rim got dyed as well and while he didn’t mind it, I won’t to try and avoid that next time I dye similar discs
@LilbotDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
I don't really avoid dyeing the rims. Black ones won't be noticeable and the axiom rims take dye pretty well. Just try use complimentary colors so you won't get a brown rim

tutorial is pointless when measurements are referred to as "some". Cool, so I put 1/4 a cup (some) silicone oil into the mix?
