Very nice! Also great playing, especially the jazz. For those unfamiliar with these modules, the Yamaha TX802 is basically a DX7mkII in a rack. The JD-990 is a digital ROMpler and predecessor to the JV-1080 and JV-2080 (as well as the even later XV and Fantom series).

i hope you do a lot of videos like this one. I have been spending most of my free time studying music composition lately and something ive been overlooking is orchestration, partly because I want to write modern music and most recommended books tend to focus on classical music.

Nice, man! I remember making those exact same combos - except the fusion one - back in those days on my DX7IID. You nailed it once again. I just hope the guys at S4K are able to fix the hissing issues on the TX802 I'm buying so I can mess around along with the TG55 and Proteus 1... all bought because of you, I'll hold you accountable!:))) Have a nice w.e.

It would be great to listen to more different combi's sounds with maybe using 3 high-quality synths (for example Roland D50, Korg M1, Yamaha DX7..) That's really true, that combinations sounds of different synths make sounds rich, beautiful and colorful. Thanks a lot!

The electric piano is very 80's but also very 70's disco ballads ala How Deep Is Your Love or When Will I Meet You Again by Bee Gees and Three Degrees respectively. :) John Lennon's Imagine is an early example from 70's combining real acoustic piano and RMI Electra true electric piano.

I'm learning a lot about using synths from your videos! That digital piano sound is one of my favorites! So some famous sounds are actually two or more sound modules/synths layered together? That Foster Piano combi also sounds like something Michael W. Smith would use! It's basically setting your modules to different midi channels and configuring your controller to send on both channels? Very informative video! Thanks for posting it!!!

Don't know if you respond to comments in older videos, but I have a question nonetheless. I know it was common back in the day to layer acoustic piano patches with FM and/or PCM synth patches. However, do you know of examples where FM and/or PCM layers were combined with Fender Rhodes or Wurlitzer EP samples?
@SynthManiaDotCom4 ай бұрын
Yes, Chick Corea I think is one example during the Elektric Band period, he layered Rhodes with FM layers

The Bells + Choir patch shows the problem I had on my Kurzweil MicroPiano: the pad sound - in this case the choir - would not release as long as the sustain pedal was down, even if it had been lifted _after_ the cord was struck. This renders standard piano sustain pedal technique completely useless, because playing a chord and then lifting the sustain for a brief moment is all it takes on a proper piano to dampen all the notes of the previous chord. With this kind of senseless sustain control, chords keep bleeding into each other, giving you dischord on dischord. Sad.
