What I love about this sound it's that it's very clean, simple, it has air around to breath. The sound is relaxed. It's total opposite of turbo boosted EDM.

Thanks for showing us your process!! I love the carpet too! If you followed Pro Cycling in the 80s, you'll remember Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault rode for a team called "La Vie Claire" and they had jersey's that used the same motif as your carpet.
@SynthManiaDotCom8 жыл бұрын
Hehe, hi Kirk, Thank you and Yes, definitely remember Hinault and that Tour de France :) Yes, I remember that type of pattern was very in vogue in the '80s and that's why I bought that carpet! :-D I believe that look was inspired by Mondrian, the famous painter. Such a cool look / pattern.
@lotus30com8 жыл бұрын
Mondrian - yes, that's it! I always thought it funny that they took a painting design from the 1920s and then recycled it into a team logo. I actually have a La Vie Claire jersey from 1985 still - if only I could fit into it nowadays!

We have the same age, and it's impossible to forget these marvelous melodies and synth arrangements from all maestri as Mauro Farina, Pegoraro, Giombini, etc etc.. Dude, your vids are so instructional and fun, and always contain nice sounds and melodies, or interesting chord progressions. Keep it up! Auguri.

Fantastic Paolo!I am also into making music - just as a hobby - cannot really play so using a DAW (Reason). I love the old Italo stuff and sometimes try my hand at it, but it never really sounds authentic. You have it in your blood and it just comes naturally.Quoting Device Factor "...have noticed is that there is most certainly a " theory" within what comprises an italo disco melody. you have it naturally. my request, would be, to give more insight on this..."I would second this and love to hear if you have any further thoughts on this.All your stuff is good, but I think that Via Cuniberti is my favourite...Thanks
@cliffgeiger81738 жыл бұрын
I really love this song...it has my whole body moving...I tried to follow what you was saying and sadly, I got lost a few times, but then, it dawned on me that this music you wrote, might be considered a form of dub-step music, which basically uses the same type of format you was using, drum intro, drum beat, bass line, and melody line on a repeat loop. As I said in the first commit, that song you did was AWESOME and this one you just did, is way AWESOME! I loved it and I can't wait until you do more! Great Job!!!
@joaopaulocouto74127 жыл бұрын
Starts with a bit of Koto feel, then proceeds to some Alan Parsons introspection, and then to typical pleasant Italo Disco beat, like in Around My Dream. Just great. For me, Italo Disco is as important to the music world as any of the celebrated British and American bands and yet remained so unknown outside Continental Europe. Some of my favorites are Dolce Vita, I Like Chopin, Comanchero, Take Me Up, Happy Station, and so many others...

The world needs more of this kind of music again (Italo disco, new beat, techno, house ect. ect.)! "New Retro Wave" have been making some nice stuff but, it would be great if they were to get helped, guided, or schooled by some real oldskool pros like yourself every now and then! They seem to be having trouble creating their B versus. Sometimes they don't even have one! Also, they need to figure out how to make their beats sound more complex while maintaining that true "retro" feel they're going for! They shouldn't try to sound so "dark" all the time either! These guys are cool but, they need some schooling!
@devicefactor22908 жыл бұрын
HowlingMoonCinemas I couldn't agree more, growing up I have always loved 80s music. but then finding the retro wave scene , knowing others share a love for that decade, I started to really listen to it. but for the last 7 months I've stopped. there are other reasons why I have. now im obsessed with Italo. I just feel... nothing's better than the real deal. Italo has great bass lines and melody's. I believe the only artist in the New retro wave scene that really "Got It" was/is Lost Years.
@TallicaMan19868 жыл бұрын
HowlingMoonCinemas New Retro Wave is a vast genre ranging from dark sounds to the gayest sounds.
@HowlingMoonCinemas8 жыл бұрын
***** Most of that music is "dark" themed and hardly expresses any other spectrum of different moods or emotions. This is the problem I'm speaking about with New Retro Wave. They have many cool dark themes but, they lack everything else that was great about true retro. So, with all this, I really don't get your point.
@devicefactor22908 жыл бұрын
HowlingMoonCinemas 'lost years' dabbles into the italo disco style, check out his song "pressure" and Garth Knight some of his stuff is pretty fun like the song "turbo boost" of course based off of Knight Rider.
@TallicaMan19868 жыл бұрын
HowlingMoonCinemas New Retro didnt spawn from Synth pop. It came from 80s movie scores, like Bladerunner, Terminator, Robocop, Halloween, The Thing, to just name a few, so dark, cyberpunk themes are inherent with that genre which is known as Dark Synth I think. Which has Perturbator and Carpenter Brut at the foreground of that particular Synthwave. Others have taken a more italo disco approach like Lazerhawk on Redline.
