A compilation of some of Marshall Faulk's highlights at San Diego State University. Marshall Faulk was the epitome of a three-down back, as he thrived at receiving and blocking almost as much as he dominated on the ground. Faulk also will go down in history as the biggest Heisman snub of the modern era, losing the trophy to a game manager in Miami who wasn't even the best player on his own team.

Why can't Marshall just be the best ever? Too many people are quick to say unequivocally that Barry Sanders is the best ever when he's not. Marshall was a much better & complete back than Barry Sanders. The Lions would take Sanders out on 3rd down & red zone situations. How can you be the greatest back ever when these are the facts. Sanders also had the most minus yards in history bc of his running style. He would put his team in bad situations bc he was too East West style of running. Great highlights but terrible for his team. Marshall was more explosive & ended his runs really strong. So say it and say it loud, MARSHALL FAULK THE GREATEST RB OF ALL TIME!

Faulk never played a full season either year in college , clearly he was a front runner but I think one year he played in 7 games, cant remember how many the next... but he was absolutely "addicting" to watch... Kid would play 7 games but wind up with well over 1400 uyards..half if not more of those 300+ yards rushing , it was insane

I was in 9th grade when Marshall had this amazing season. In Nebraska i remember brother and I staying up late sometimes to watch the later west coast start time. It was so exciting. This dude was such an outstanding athlete. His breakaway speed and his sneaky in your face and through you power. Dude was soooo freaking awesome. Im kind of in awe just remembering how it felt to watch him back then. Thanks Marshall your one of my favs of all time.

I’m from San Diego and saw Marshall out and about a few times and the thing that stood out to me is that he doesn’t look physically intimidating, not that tall, isn’t ripped up. But put a football in that man’s hands and he is a threat to score every time. He could just flat out play. So glad I was able to watch one of the all time greats in person

The best All Around RB I ever seen. This guy could run with the best of them, pass block with the best of them, and his receiving skills from the RB position still haven't been duplicated. Faulk could've been a Pro Bowl some may argue HOF receiver if he wanted to.

I would say that between LT and Faulk, whom I consider the two best all-around backs I've ever watched, Faulk was the slightly better receiver and LT was the slightly better pure runner. But they were both excellent in both respects, both could pass block, and both were consummate professionals and team guys.

Faulk's sophomore year it was him, Garrison Hearst, and Marvin Jones who all three were incredibly dominant that year and it went to Gino Toretta who had a decent year but nothing special. Three other guys were far more deserving that year.

Fantastic post! He is arguably one of the top three to play the position... I actually played against him the first game of the 1993 season, SDSU vs CSUN. I think he rushed for 172 against us that game.

It's interesting. I just finished watching Reggie Bush highlights at USC. Bush was this huge media story, but Faulk--doing even more spectacular things on the field--was totally off the media's radar. The NFL scouts knew about Faulk, however, and he, like Bush, he was picked #2 in the draft. The difference: Faulk 19,190 total career yards, Bush 9,088 career yards. Faulk a Hall-of-Famer, Bush a college superstar who had a couple of nice years in the NFL, and that's it. The NCAA hype-machine fooled everybody....

Marshall Faulk is definitely the #2 GOAT. Barry Sanders #1, Marshall Faulk #2. I've said that for a very long time. Barry was the once in a lifetime on the ground, no doubt about that. But Marshall Faulk was the most balanced weaponized running back of all time. Nobody ever could do as much as he could do, with devastating precision. Marshall Faulk could do it all.
