This match was the culmination of the greatest tournament run i've ever had, played against my greatest rival ever, on the biggest NES Tetris stage in the world. But it was also the culmination of the almost five years I've been playing, and every milestone, every misdrop, every win, and especially every loss were all required to make this moment what it is. And it was the most fun I've ever had. Classic Tetris is so cool. Also, I somehow to forgot to give this shoutout in my interview, but Vince Clemente is my hero. The man has near single-handedly carried the CTWC logistics for a decade, and he really cares about the players' best interests, even as this group has changed so dramatically. I'm more optimistic than ever about the future of our game with him at the forefront. Bonus fact: our very last game had *twenty-nine* bars at transition (iirc the worst rng every observed is 25 bars by this point).

29 bars at transition is appalling
@Arrica10111 ай бұрын
As terrible as that is, Jonas did a stream where every time the game gave him a long bar it would reroll the peice. If it then landed on a long bar that was ok to use. He still maxed out and that was using DAS. With rolling, even the worst long bar count should still be relatively easy to max out for these guys

However, after this year, I strongly believe this could very well be the greatest one. Sweeping both brothers and after that a reverse sweep against one of the toughest opponents in Sidnev. What a star, Fractal is the deserved champion, the crowd loves him for a reason. Congrats to Sidnev for that great run to the finals. Great redemption story, was pulling for him all the way. For starters even though he lost 3-1 to Eric he was still amazing. Second, it would've been devastating not just to lose consecutive finals but to get there without dropping a game, then go out in three straight. Despite being a nerd (which is a good thing!) and nervously rambling at times through the end interview he ended with a shoutout to the parents which is the sweetest thing ever. Respect for giving respect. His awareness of and focus on the moment while still smiling and enjoying the crowds and commentators, you couldn't ask for a better representative of the game. Kudos to the Tetris for Jeff meme video, (pc31754 aka Procrarast) which is the only reason I'm here. I don't know why the algorithm gave it to me back when but thank goodness. LOL you know what. That's a brilliant idea. Next year, I'm getting guys in tuxes with rolling gloves to present the trophies!

What a crazy match. The super kill screen is my absolute favourite type of tetris to watch

Poor Sidnev got distracted by the first cheers to Fractal in the last game 😢 those were the lines she was ahead
@ITZsharky111 ай бұрын
Sidnev was ahead in lines because of player higher than fractal majority of the 18 in that game. Pieces were actually bad though 😂

It looked to me like at first Sidnev thought she won. She heard the cheers, saw Fractal top out, relaxed, let her own game top out, stood up and started cheering. But if she'd kept going a bit more and got a couple more lines, she might have won this. Poor Sidnev.

@@haunter6682 you are right, if she had kept playing a little more she could have save her game. I think players nowadays have such a great level that they can spend more time looking at each other screens than before 2018 but they just got distracted or don't get the whole picture like in this case.

that was like that scene in LOTR:ROTK, when everyone is fighting, and frodo and gollum are fighting, and like it's all happening, and I'm fangasming...
