I quite agree with you on ditchin the latter rack. AND!!!!!! No wipe on wipe off so called windex car wax!! You want a good well maintained body paint! Use the good ole days of car wax in a can, that will last you a great deal of longer time and will remain on the paint of your truck as the shine will always be right there. This spray on wipe off goofy stuff just doesn't cut it with me, it's like spraying on windex on the body of the car or truck. Going further, again, laugh at me IF you will, baby oil and a good soaked baby oil rag on the dashboard, steering wheel and the inside door areas will bring back the interior to a bran new look after the baby oil soaks into the inside interior, you can go over it once again with a clean rag, buffing it all off, and it will smell like baby oil, nice and clean and look well taken care of. If you get car wax on the outside black portions such as the door handles, no worries!, baby oil will remove the wax off of the door handles or any other areas that got car wax on it. You can also use baby oil on your mats to, and they will come up looking nice and black and clean looking to.

Why the hole on the truck bed?
@mechanicalaction7 ай бұрын
So that water can drain out when it rains. Truck bed rust/rot in this area is very common as trucks age because water pools up. A rubber grommet cap can be put in the whole if you want it to be sealed but removable.

Nice job! What was the hole in the bed for?
@mechanicalaction Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It’s so water can drain when it rains or when you wash the bed out. A common cause of rusted out beds on trucks like this is when water pools up in the corners with no where to go, or when water gets trapped under the plastic bedliner (which is why we removed it and used a rubberized coating instead!) also need to put a plastic plug/cap in the new hole though, so when transporting sand or rocks, they don’t fall out. Just remove the cap when water needs to drain.

@@mechanicalactionLaugh at me if you will, however yes, Gunk, or better yet, kerosene which that's what Gunk essentially is. Spray on kerosene and let it sit for awhile then lightly spray it off. Ain't NOTHIN BETTER than a clean engine, runs better, and you can spot any leaks that might need attention, and again, laugh at me if you will, I love the smell of kerosene as the smell of it gets me high and I KNOW I'm doing all I can to take good care of my car or truck!!!! if you take care of those old trucks from the begining, they can go ungodly amounts of miles & years.reletively trouble free.my 90 is still going strong as the day it was built.but i took good care of it to.burns a 1/3 of a quart of oil between 4k change intervals.at over 200k+ miles.the stock water pump lasted 174k.starter around 185k.back when ford give a crap about quality & value.instead of cheapness & GREED.mines the 4.0 though.

I like Ford cars and trucks, and they still build decent, quility cars and trucks. I wanted a Ford Ranger, however people were over charging for something used and abused, and wasn't going by the blue book value. Ended up with a Chevy Silverado, which I much preferred a Ford over a Chevy. Had a 92 Ford Escort that lasted 31 years and now have a 05 Ford Focus, and love that car very, very much!!!!
@M.TTT. Жыл бұрын
Not bad, a lot of rigged-up cheap/fast fixes (tailgate wire, self tappers) that are good enough for flipping and the next guy can do a proper fix if they go bad I guess - but if its sold cheap, they'll probably just beat it to death anyway.
@mechanicalaction Жыл бұрын
Thanks! This definitely wasn't just a quick flip - we used the truck for a long time to move stuff around and finish up random projects. The reality is just that this truck was bought for $300 and when fixing it up - it didn't justify additional extra parts or time in most cases. Being cheap or resourceful isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Loved it! But the grill repair had my autobody soul cringing a little bit. Overall great job on everything!
@mechanicalaction Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The grill repair was definitely a budget-minded task. A replacement grill is anywhere from $50-$100+, since we already had bondo and sand paper, a can of metallic paint was a fraction of the cost of an entire new grill. There's nothing wrong with practical repairs sometimes... it just didn't seem to make sense to spend 5% of the total car's value on a cosmetic item that we could easily repair, and instead apply the budget for the car into more important items like bed liner or tailgate latch. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
@danbasta367728 күн бұрын
@@mechanicalactionThank You and again, I quite agree with your answer. Nothing wrong with putting either monkey glue in the crack and gluing the grill part together, in this case, you've used J B Weld, then put a bit of mud with hardener over top to fill in a few discrepancies, then smooth it out , sand it down and get high gloss paint to paint the grill with. Never a bad idea!

You could make a home made ladder rack out of pipe to if you had to, however, yes, if you choose to have it on the truck, so be it. I much prefer to not have it on the truck, however will keep it in case maybe you MIGHT need to transport extension ladders or 2 by 4's or 2 by 8's pvc pipe, etc. A truck is ALWAYS something handy to have in case you have to replace a water heater in your house, or get a little bit of coal or wood to heat your celler with, or whatever you may need to do to keep things up and running smoothly once again. I much prefer a regular cab truck because you can haul much more than you can with this silly 4 door station wagon truck craze going on these days.
@danbasta367728 күн бұрын
Not done YET! Laugh at me if you will, get a couple quarts of rust olem black paint, thin it down and fire up the ole air compressor and spray paint the chassis frame and floorboards, especially the underside the bed whare rust and corrosion accumulates. The worse part of this is the wheel wells as ALL truck rust out right there above the rear wheels and tires. It's good to see a paint on bedliner painted on the bed to avoind being scrached up, however in order for that bedliner to first be applied, the bed has to be scrached down so that the paint on bedliner will stick. Beautiful little Ford Ranger truck you've got here, now always keep the engine oil changed, air cleaner changed, and change any fluides that need changed such as the rear end oil, transmission oil if it has a autimatic drive transmission, even a manual transmission oil can be changed. Always flush, back flush out the antifreeze and replace it with 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water, 60/40, 70/30, depending whare you live to keep that engine and cooling system running young. Dont forget to replace the timming belt, and water pump, and as time goes by, the fuel filter, and fuel pump as the fuel pump is the heart of your engine. The fuel filter SHOULD BE replaced on a yearly basis!
