@@AaronandClaire, cooked leftover rice cakes are awful after being frozen. They become, kind of, powdery.

@justtubingby8342 That must have been too dehydrated. How about wrapping them with a plastic wrap first and keeping them in ziplock bag? And make sure to soak them in some cold water for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This should be much much better! 😍

My wife is Filipina, normally doesn't like spicy food, but she loves tteokbokki when I make it for her. I use the little red filipino hot dogs in place of fish cake. Honey as the sweetener for the sauce, as well as a heaping tablespoon of minced garlic in the sauce. I also include about half a roughly chopped yellow or sweet onion. Tteokbokki is easily my favorite Korean recipe because it's so delicious and so easy to make. I like to keep any leftover tteokbokki sauce and use it over rice, or sauce chicken wings with it, or even use it on ribs in place of BBQ sauce.

Since tteokbokki sauce itself tastes amazing, it will be still delicious without it. 😍 But if you really want to add more, you can add some more vegetables (such as green onion, onion, or cabbage) or hot dogs (or sausages). Or you can just eat it with some fried dumplings because the fish cake is also fried one. Everything will be fantastic, so don’t worry about it! 😁

Unfortunately, the Korean shop I used to frequent and I loved is now closed for good due to the pandemic and the Ukrainian war, so do you have a video on home made fish cake? I’m trying to figure out where to find the fish cake sheets. Which section should I look in my local Asian grocery store? Would they be in the freezer section or somewhere else?? Also if anyone could recommend a brand, that would be great too 🩷

I've been binge-cooking everything in your cookbook since I got my copy the other day and man have I been on a tteokbokki kick. Unfortunately, I've also purchased all of the tteokbokki in a 50 mile radius of my very rural home! Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find any of the fish cake. Is there any substitute you'd recommend? The nearest Korean grocery is 8 hours from me!

Hope this helps! 😁

I absolutely love watching you two beautiful and fun couple and all your interesting cooking videos! You inspire the world to want to try cooking Korean dishes( that are doable ha ha😅!). I think people w any GIT problem (such as myself) can simply adjust the level of spiciness by reducing the amount of gochujang and even omit the very red chili powder. If you're diabetic (such as myself) you can even use sweetener or indulge in a dollop of honey( and just go for a refreshing brisk walk,if you don't have a gym membership 😃!) . Being a retired doctor i've learnt not to deprive myself of anything good in life, so long as they're Halal🤓. Readjusting and substituting certain ingredients might not result in an authentic Korean gourmet experience, but, well, it's the next best thing😘. Like i'd tell my kids, and now their kids, there's no hard and fast rule in cooking, make it fun ,afterall it's not an exam...no marks given🤗
