One thing you also might want to do is check your engine timing. Here's a great video about that from Chris Vallone: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWmaeoGtq86laJY

In 1976 my parents decided they did not want to raise a family in New York City. They packed up their 1971 bug and drove to Denver Colorado. (thanks to John Denver). While I don’t need or want a bug,I am forever thankful for that car and for the life they made after that big jump.

That bug is looking sweet!

Thanks! It has some flaws and rust that needs to be fixed some day, but I'll keep it going the best I can in the meantime.

Hey Jason! Nice video man, congrats. Let me tell you, I was looking for a beetle to buy, one between 1962 and 1968 but after I started watching your videos I changed my mind and last weekend I bought an amazing 1973 Super Beetle! ... I said to my wife "Sorry sweetheart, was Jason's fault I bought it, the guy influenced me strongly" she didn't really buy it, but was true... lol Oh, btw Happy Bday man!

Happy 40th Jason. Hopefully you used ethanol rated rubber fuel line? I’ve just changed mine to that, apparently the one I purchased has a 25 year life span. Every year for the last 6 years I’ve had to swap out my R9 lines because every year they’ve had cracks in. You can also now get ethanol rated fuel pumps in the UK, it would be worth periodically undoing the studs on yours and checking the base of the pump is still packed with grease. If it’s not, the chances are ethanol has permeated the seals in the pump or you can pull your dipstick from time to time and sniff it, if it smells of fuel, oil change and a new pump👍

All good tips! Thanks Philip. I believe the hose is rated for ethanol. Lucky for me... a new ethanol free gas station just opened up near by. That's where I'll be fueling up from now on.

I just started a book making/binding hobby. I’d love to rebound your manual for you. If you wanted. I have done 5 case binding books (normal hard cover), 6 Japanese stab stitching and 3 Coptic stitch binding so far and am getting pretty good after watching tons of videos and trial and error in my own experience. I know it’s not hundreds but this hobby doesn’t have too much of a learning curve.

Hi Jason, my name is David. I recently just bought a 1973 super beetle. I saw that you use Bosch spark plugs I recently just purchased them but my wires for the spark plugs are different. Can you recommend anything?

Well, to date the video has made $4.35... but yes, it was worth it. :-) Gear breaks sometimes... part of life.

If you ever wanted a title for a "Second Channel", how about "JASON DOES STUFF"?
@JasonExplainsThings Жыл бұрын
Yeah I consider a second channel from time to time. If I do the home DIY stuff again that's where it would go.
