Loved the series. Like I mentioned before, I have this cars twin sister in my garage. It is the same year, same color. Mine is in a little better shape. Not as much rust. I wish I had the motivation to start on it. I have owned it for 3 years. Still justs sits there. One day, after I get my 68 autostick I may start on it. Question for you, Out of all the years you could have chosen for your personal car, why a 70? I love the steering wheel of the year and IRS rear end. If it wasn't for the price I paid and living in Tampa, it would have been gone awhile ago. Just couldnt replace it for what I have into it. Thanks for the great content. May you and your family have a safe and healthy year. Same to your father and guys in the shop who make it all possible for you to follow what you enjoy doing. I know your thankful to everyone along the way who has made it happen. Take care my friend.

(You ll unlikely remember but I've emailed you a few times ...from the UK to get help and advice from you, always turned out well...thanks.) Chris, I'd love to see a video of how that 1954 Bug featured on the news you're restoring ...(where you found the army dog tag and tracked down the former owner.) That's an amazing find and would love to see how you're progressing with that. (I only just saw the older news item about it now.)

Great video as always Chris. Really appreciate the extra time required to provide the content that you do. I have a 1970 Standard Beetle that I would very much like to restore. Minimal rust, but there is some. College car owned since 1983 so it is a member of the family. I’m wondering about how many hours would be required to complete a restoration similar to your convertible here.

Tear down is pretty easy, maybe like a day or two. Just after paint alone, is over 350 hours or so. Body and paint at the body shop was like 4 months.

Beautiful Colour . Chris maybe you can answer this or someone in the community but I have a 78 Vert. Are the rear seat windows adjustable? They retract fully open and closed the issue is they are slightly bowed out when in the up position about 1/4 inch. Am I missing shims or something or installed improperly?

Is that the original engine lid ??? I thought the 1970 had A row of 2 louvers.My first car had it.It was A 70 hardtop.

For sedan yes, but a convertible had more louvers for cooling.

Of course I actually did own a 1961 Volkswagen beetle bug way back in 1970. I drove it all the way across the country having to nurse the engine because the compression was starting to go. I had a wonderful time and lots of adventures. So I was wondering if I could buy one and enjoy the feeling of those times Wayback when. Do you think I could buy a VW bug that isn’t so marvelously reconditioned but still in very usable and pleasant condition?
