Watching people realize the ARTISTRY of the members of BTS is always so satisfying. Oftentimes it feels like just ARMY listening to what they are actually saying and trying to do and everyone else going “ok sure. BTS.” They make thoughtful music. They care about music. Yes, they are beautiful and can dance well and often make fun things to cheer us up or to dance do… but they also make art.

The commentary on RM's understanding of the artform of rap is just perfect. I couldn't have said it better. He summed up everything so perfectly. I love when people are exposed to explore RM/BTS' musicality, artistry esp musicians, artists because it gives both parties (them and us, ARMYs) a different perspective to the music that we might have not noticed before. Also 10:33 represents us. I totally get him. President Legend RM😁

Finally an album from the popular kpop space that makes sense for classical/jazz lovers to analyze. This was the best album of 2024. Lyrically, musicality-wise, instrumentally…
@shockofthenewКүн бұрын
I'm so excited to see more music-lovers get into Right Place Wrong Person! Even if I wasn't a fan it would still be my album of the year for 2024, it's such an experience when listened to all the way through. I'm not sure what musical directions BTS will take in the next 10 years, but RM keeps saying this 'chapter 2' era of exploration and freedom is going to inspire them going forward, so I'm excited. It also strikes me that people are SO surprised to hear alternative music, or real hip hop, or explicit lyrics associated with BTS, saying they've never heard anything remotely like this from them, they thought people were exaggerating when calling BTS "artists of a generation" etc... it shows me a lot of people probably only know them from their more popular songs, and haven't gone through the full discography yet. RPWP is unarguably the most musically experimental work a BTS member has made so far, but as a long-time fan I didn't find it an unexpected diversion at all. I was pleasantly surprised on first listen (like "yes! He really went there!") but not completely shocked. I really hope more people re-evaluate the full BTS discography (including solo work) over time, there are so many absolute gems in there. Good quality translations are also a must, their lyrics are fantastic!
@inner3dxКүн бұрын
the way yall can do a long a$$ reaction to every track on RPWP, that's how much of an artist this man is. i knew he was talented but this album is his peak artistry. i'm impressed with him even after a decade being his fan. epic, legendary. can't move on from this album after months have passed.

I saw someone put Domodachi on their "worst kpop song of 2024" list and I genuinely got heated. Some ppl can't wrap their minds around more unique and musically complex tracks, but I think this album was by far my favorite k-artist's from 2024. I'm glad to see people (esp musicians) appreciate how great it is and break down why!
@inner3dxКүн бұрын
i don't mean to hate, but k-pop fans are usually comercial sl4ves. at least the new ones. they know about the formula kpop groups follow so they expect everyone in the industry to do the same. everything out of their range of music style is terrible. so shallow. but oh well! the specialized critics are there for a reason, no validation from them needed 🫦

as a german i got another perpective of the mv. germany was split into 2 countries until 1989 and korea still is. a lot of scenes remind me of families and friends who got separated, some crawling through tunnels that went underneath the border ( the concrete pipe in the mv), the presence of police/military, closing off train tracks and the eye that can be seen inside the rubble, referring to the " Stasi", the huge spy network in the former gdr.

The whole album is a work of art! From the title, to the concept, to how each song adds to the theme and makes you feel unsettled at first; because you’re in the wrong place, to finding resolve and finding calm. The instrumentations, the switches, the transitions, the lyrics…🤯 This album is definitely a masterpiece and deserves much more recognition. Too bad RM was not here to promote it when it dropped. I really hope it draws in more serious music lovers to the BTS universe and start to see RM and BtS as the artists they are and not “just another poppy boyband”. They are the biggest group in the world for a reason. Not just because they “look hot”. This album was experimental. Makes me super intrigued to see what type of album RM will do next. And the next one he’ll be here to promote it. I hope he will get the flowers he deserves. This album received critical acclaim from many publishings, but not enuff support from the fandom or general public

BTS has a complex relationship with kpop FROM THE START, mainly because their main song writers are ALL rappers with heavy hip hop backgrounds. To me, they were NEVER KPOP musically. They went through the kpop training system. And had to survive the kpop industry. But that’s the extent of their kpop association. As an outsider to kpop this is how I feel.
@tifaa13137 сағат бұрын
I get your pov, but I think it may be born, partly at least, from bias against kpop. If BTS wanted to distance themselves from kpop, they 100% could by now, it would actually help their career, but they said multiple times, in multiple ways (song lyrics, interviews, docs) that this was never the plan. Kpop is as much their root as rap is, they respect it just as equally. Their goal is not to get out of it, it's to expand it further from what it is, it's actually exactly what rm said about rpwp when asked if it's kpop, they want to prove to people that kpop can be real art, and is not an unique music genre. They are proud of it.

But you’ll didn’t catch the end. He turns around and goes back! Because in the bullshit he found a real friend who uplifted him and was there for him helping him out. And he just felt distant from his previous friend because he didn’t go through the same thing he went and there is a disconnect. The disconnect and discomfort is also portrayed through the music.
