Peter has sort of gone in his own direction with the acapella and it's very unique. He is fascinated with layering, and since a voice resonates uniquely, he will layer the same voice in many different notes to create unique resonance singing with another person doesn't create. He's a unicorn. Check out his Amazing Grace with Home Free or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, recorded during lockdown with the Patreon choir and Home Free. Great stuff. I think this every video. You, Sir Hairless, have quickly stepped to the top of my favorite music reaction influencers list (it's a very short/exclusive list). Another thing I think every time (and I do hope I'm not being rude) is that you should check your thyroid function. While hairless is certainly on the list of symptoms, thinning of that outer third of the eyebrows is a more specific sign. It could be as simple as low iodine, but it's almost always a matter of liver health, which is where iodine is converted to its usable form for the thyroid. If that's the case, look into eating more broccoli. Cruciferous veggies (and it's substance, DIM) will help heal that function. Sorry to seem out of place, and I pray for the absolute best for you. I hope to see much more from you for years to come. Thank you for sharing your passion and skill with us.

@MetteC511 ай бұрын
@@PANixon It's a kind suggestion but it takes for granted that the thyroid is functioning properly. He should have that checked before doing anything. EDIT: what I mean is that it's meaningless that the thyroid gets iodine in its usable form if the thyroid can't.. use it. That was my case and it took decades for the doctors to figure that out, after inundating me with completely useless iodine.

Both Peter and Tim work on arrangements for their duets, but I haven't found anyplace where Peter says who did this one. They have worked together for 20 years or so and there fore know exactly what they can do separately and together. You might check the list of songs on the album "Beautiful Duets, Vol. !" to see what other songs they have done videos for so far. As others have said, Greensleeves is a more spare arrangement and a lovely one-take video. Bridge over Troubled Waters includes a BUNCH of bridges as background. I mis-spoke - there is at least one video that is not on that album - Misty Mountains - you will see many recommendations for that one, too, and for good reasons. For what it's worth, your facial expressions are part and parcel of your reactions - go ahead and forget about the camera.

The same show that Pentatonix won in 2011 and Home Free won in 2013. Wow! I love your analyses of songs. I listen to very few. Songs either I know or artists I'm really fond of (like Dimash). Your input here made me more aware of the intense complexity of this arrangement. I would not have caught it all before. The fact they also included 'literal' interpretation is insane. I never would have caught that.

You looked just fine, just appreciative and a couple of confused and surprised faces, expectedly so! By the way, I love your singing voice! I can tell it’s a clear and amazing voice. I’ve been meaning to say as such. Peter Hollens is a very multi-talented singer, producer, and much more! He’s very creative, as you’ve seen with this video. He and Tim have collaborated a good bit. Home Free collaborated with him several times. Peter also collaborated with Adam Chance. Your analysis was outstanding on this one, and there was loads of stuff to analyze. You covered it pretty well.

Check out their collaborations in "Misty Mountains" and "Greensleeves". Not to change the subject but also, if you need a good laugh, watch Home Free's version of "The Great Mississippi Squirrel Revival. Tim does a great job on the narration part with the rest of the guys doing verse tags as well as the chorus. It's a Hoot!

I love this song. It’s amazing how every cover tells a different story. The artists makes the song their own. Maybe react to Disturb and Pentatonix.

@@SirHairless did you ever consider to analyse singing (songs, music)? I mean not reacting to new ones, but, as extra playlist, reviewing something you heard before and found worth listening to?

@@MinopeRU I have considered it, but right now I don't have the time. I have no free time at all making these videos - every day I make the next day's video, and if I have any plans on one day that are irregular, it means I can't do a video

Great reaction! I grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel, and this is my favorite cover along with The Disturbed cover😊

That was the most 'true to the original' cover I've heard so far. I think Disturbed's music video is still my favourite though, the voice and imagery are so powerful ^^

Peter is amazing ... and a good range also; a master of tracks, blends, harmonies, and the combination of the 2. Trying to figure this one out --- so many layers (on layers) which each ...... well, just leave it to be enjoyed and appreciated : ). When HF (or any one of the members) and Peter get together, oh damn -- it's good. Then again - Mr. Hollens goes well alone or with anyone that he works with -- and vise versa. You'll see! This is always a journey and never a quick trip! Do appreciate your R&A --- till next time! Be Safe

Peter is really talented in using layers (sometimes up to 100 at once) to combine individual notes to express wonderful and amazing cords. The management of the individual note progressions all compiled together results in wonderful sounds. I have to believe that Tim had input, but Peter is the main arranger. OBTW, Peter is a baritone to high tenor (he doesn't do the "low" notes). I have really enjoyed the collaborations that they have done. Great analysis and reaction! You do a very good job of breaking it down in understandable ways for the layman. Thanks!

Peter and Tim have done several collaborations. I would also love to see your thoughts on the Peter Hollens/ Avi Kaplan collaboration on "Black Is the Color". I think it's stunning, but would be curious what you think, as well as your analysis.

They sing another song, Misty Mountains that you can see more of the ranges of Peter. It is an epic version as well. I love these two voices together. Peter and Avi sing, Black IsThe Color Of My True Loves Hair, which is an awesome song too. I love your reactions an still amazed that you can pick out all the musical bliss. I can appreciate the songs, but I, just think they are beautiful...the construction, balance, texture and notes with arrangement are intriguing and so I come to learn from your ability on reaction and why. Thank You!

I love "The sound of silence" since I discovered it 45 years ago, singing it hundreds of times, love a capella singing and do it myself - but somehow this version doesn't grab or touch me. Maybe it's "too much", too much "acrobatics" and for me not consistent, it feels unnatural. So Home Free is never my favorite and Peter's voice or maybe HOW he sings is not "my cup of tea". Much better (for me) is the arrangement of Pentatonix, (there I'm getting emotional) and on top of it - for me very surprising - is the mv of Disturbed... Please react to these two if you don't know their versions, really worth watching! But thank you for your wonderful profound and friendly analysis, you I always like a lot! ❤

The original came out when I was in college and will always be the best for me, but this is absolutely my favorite cover - ever. Peter does the most amazing arrangements. Once again, a great reaction and analysis Sir! This is my favourite cover of Sound of Silence, although I applaud the versions by Pentatonix and Disturbed. I'm glad you caught that their pose at the end mirrored S&G's pose on the cover of their Bookends album. Many other reactors haven't. And your facial expressions are part of the reason I enjoy your reactions so much.

I always loved the Simon & Garfunkel classic but Disturb's rendition and Peter & Tim's have taken the song to a whole 'nother lever in totally different ways. Peter & Tim have such gorgeous harmony together - Disturb's version is, well, disturbing. Peter Hollens & Home Free have a video of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" - jaw dropping.

Peter and Tim are an epic combo. Have you don't Peter Hollens's "Epic Handwashing Parody?" It's from lockdown, and it shows his brilliant fun side! And his version of "You Raise Me Up" is second only to Josh Groban's, and it's a VERY CLOSE second! Also, I recommend checking out Geoff Castellucci's version of "The Sound of Silence." And of course, Disturbed's version if you haven't heard it. It's totally epic. And I use that term literally.

As you are now looking at Peter, may I recommend the track by which I first ran across his amazing layered arrangements: Baba Yetu. He collaborates with Malukah on this one (best known, I think, for her composing and performing of the theme music to the computer game The Elder Scrolls Online), and Baba Yetu was composed by Christopher Tin for the computer game Civilization IV and won him a Grammy award.
