The BTS music producers and other K-pop producers have a good grasp on music theory, and they are across many music genres and production techniques. Jimins solo song Lie is the best example of this. I think there may be an old "the Beatles" album in their music producers sample album library too. I just got this feeling. I am surprised the wasn't a Yellow Submarine in theor Idol music video...they had everything else.

I think you guys are right that BTS videos are a total event and the music is more equal in prominence to the visual and movement aspects rather than being the dominant aspect. That might be different to a Symphony concert where the staging and uniformity of dress etc is set up to give more prominence to the music. But both can communicate about important themes. So glad you do what you do. When you add movement and conversation and laughter and joy along with classical sounds you can open a door which otherwise might stay closed for many. Love your videos!

Even in the earlier times, it was a rich-man activity and a type of hobby that you needed to put time in and appreciate. Considering the fact that we don't have those types of widely spread interests in classical music or any type of music in general, it is pretty normal that ppl like simpler stuff. We 'consume' music nowadays and it isn't even considered a hobby, we don't really "learn" about music.

This is the reason that lead to become a BTS fan. I thought if classical musicians like you guys listens to a kpop boy band then they must be really good. I tried listening to Dynamite when it came out and I thought it sound okay. Then I check out Anpanman, Just One Day, Spring Day and Blood Sweat and Tears. Then I eventually got into the the rabbithole. Idol is probably not the best BTS song out there. BTS's Cypher series, 21st Century Girls and plenty of their songs with no music videos are my favorites. Suga is my ultimate bias. Like, seriously love him and his other persona, Agust D.

Well what they said is true though. The notes or tune of the song is really repetitive but after all the music is for accompaniment. In today's music, vocals are much more appreciated no matter how metallic or stereotype or simple the music is. Most tune in KPOP is tune 1, tune 2, tune 3, tune 1, tune 2, tune 3, tune 4, tune 3. In simpler words or idk how to say it, it's like verse, pre chorus, chorus, verse, pre chorus, chorus, bridge, chorus. It's not really bad because this way it becomes more catchy because the beat is on loop which gives the listeners that LSS or Last Song Syndrome. Plus the fact that it is easier to write lyrics for tunes like these. It's more like writing a poem with measurement with the same time and beat of the accompaniment. As for Classical Music, we all know that it is very long and not just that. It has very many notes and phrases and parts or whatever idk what's it called I'm no expert in this lol. And if there is a vocal, it's more like an instrument. You know, something they do in operas where they're like oOOooO ooO OoOOooo OOOooo ooo bla bla bla. It's about hitting the perfect and right note. While in today's vocal, as long you're in the flow of the song's tune then that's no problem. Yeah like what Eddy and Brett said, music today is made simpler to catch more audiences or something like that. Unlike most Kpop, BTS is quite different and this mv had quite a lot of inside meanings as well that would be more understandable with the subtitles and background information. Majority of people think of kpop as highly manufactured and just uses visuals with bright colors and lights which is true for the most part but again BTS is different and they are addressing those stereotypes in this video. BTS also fused traditional Korean instruments with South African beats and dance making a rare and interesting mix of sound. The lyrics also talk about wanting to enjoy your life and ‘Love Yourself’ which is there main message of their music recently. BTS in general have talked about a lot of issues that people even in America don’t often talk about in music, things such as mental health, women empowerment, generational struggles, the education system, and more; they also have a large and diverse fandom from little autistic kids calming down to their music to 60 years olds reliving their youth. The fandom is quite nice and understanding to those who respectfully critic but we deal with tons of racist, sexist, and xenophobic people constantly so we will defend BTS and out fandom. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for the video! p.s. BTS also composed and produces the large majority of their music and are extremely open-minded and have advocated for UNICEF for the youth and for the LGBTQ community.

Classical music speaks through instruments, songs speak through words. It's apples and oranges. The power of BTS is through their words. i can't believe it took me THIS LONG to notice it (and especially when I'm not even watching the MV video), but at 3:56 the music video has a rabbit on the moon... and Taehyung said he believes there are rabbits on the moon...

palm tree Don’t know much about Taehyung, but fun fact! In Korea/Asia, there’s a folklore about the rabbit in the moon (if you actually look at the moon carefully...full moon, you can see it), where it looks like the rabbit is using a mortar and pestle making rice cakes. Hope that helps with any trivia.
