The Du Pre in mono actually sells for well over £100 nowadays. The monos of the UK violon and cello grail stereos have increased substantially in recent years. This definitely sits in that elite group, i remember buying a Kogan Brahms 33cx for a couple of £ and I was amazed that it sold for well over £100. The Mahler Barbirolli has always been expensive and don't forget the late Bernstein DGG Mahler cycle is highly collectible.

I accept what you say. I just did a search on CLP1650 on ebay - items sold - zero. They may be asking that money but are they selling? On discogs the last time one sold was July 2024. This is the problem - loads of people want that record but few will pay over £100. But I can see on discogs only 2 are available and well over £100. I will keep an eye on that record and see if it sells. 33CX Oistrakhs where there is an SAX used to sell for £10. Has it changed?

I looked at what Kogans have sold on ebay. Yes - I can see a CX Kogan Brahms selling for way over £100. Plus the record with Elizabeth Gilels in mono going for £400. I will be looking out for these golden monos. But in the 90s the Kogan Brahms was a £300 record - now it is £3000. A mono Kogan Brahms in the 90s was maybe £20 - so 10 x that is £200. Inflation. Even the CFP Kogans are selling for £20. Thanks for the info.

Are Concert Hall records generally desirable? I picked one up recently from the antiques centre in Lancaster (which is closing in a month or so), but I have a feeling there were quite a few other titles down there on that label - not 100% sure but can check next time I go down.

Not really from a collectibles point of view. If you just want the music they are fine. I bought one on ebay the other day only because it has the Haydn double violin sonata on it which I have never even seen before.
