Nice that you picked such shows. I listened to them often in the past bc my collection was so small. This show reminds me of Shannon Williams nailing the 3-high-notes part in another show (she is now a professional singer with a huge lack of promotion from her own company (starts with a M and ends with BK)). If you want to have goosebumps watch Solji's last performances on King of Mask singer. She is the best (as Dongmakgol girl).

As another classically trained vocalist, I can tell you that he basically "faked" his voice to sound more opera-esque, which to our ears actually hurts, and it does not showcase any sort of technique so I think they wouldn't be able to comment a whole lot of helpful things. However his technique in his regular performances are much more comment worthy! He's usually a pretty good vocalist!

It's hard to gauge what they are saying if we can't hear what they are reacting to, also if one turns up the volume so the performance audio is decently audible then the reactor's voice becomes pretty loud to the point where it's too much. Props to this channel for getting reactions out though.

I Protecc again if you haven’t noticed; they are reacting TO something. It’s like if you watched a movie with half the screen flickering and broken. Or watched a movie where you see the main character react but all the other characters are muffled etc. When one of the reactors makes a point, a face, gets excited and gets even louder, imagine trying to watch this if audio was removed entirely. They are listening to the voice and how on earth are we suppose to appreciate the voice or even have an understanding if we can’t hear it. “I like his voice, that was strained, she’s so cute”; if we can’t hear it we might as well just think okay that one sounds like PSY and this guy seems like John Legend. Or hmm I guess this feeble note I can’t hear is really really impressive. If the audio or video of the program/MV was truly unimportant then these guys could literally sit and watch a dead blank computer with no audio of anything and have emotions flicker across their voice, make comments like “that was strained” “impressive” “I love this” “that was a weird key shift” “cute concept” and someone could edit that all together upload it and call it classical musicians react to Red Velvet Power Up. Would you watch that? Because apparently the reaction is all that matters right? Even if they did react to the real MV would you prefer they upload it with the MV And audio or without? ..... Yeah you know you couldn’t stand without. So it is a little bit hard when we can’t hear something. These musicians sometimes run over to the piano and give a breakdown of the chords and something they felt was cool. If We couldn’t hear the chords before then it’s just a cool chord progression we are seeing them do. If they start to explain something We will have no idea what notes are what sounds they refer to. And this is even if we are familiar with this song. And often me personally I am not familiar with all these songs. I ain’t trying to knock on this channel or anyone, they do lovely work.

thats not how the copyright works; every YT video is automatically run in a system called Content ID upon upload, basically this is a database/scanning program filled with copyrighted content (music, video, etc) that the makers of the copyrighted content upload for various purposes like preventing plagiarism, loss of revenue etc. It doesn't matter if the audio volume is low, if it's in there (and unchanged) the info will be the same as the copyright data base which the software will detect; think of it this way, we can make font incredibly small to the point where we can't see anything but we can copy and paste and blow it up, its the same for audio. If I transcribed the Harry Potter series into size 0.25 font and uploaded it to a website made for it thats just not going to help me avoid a copyright strike. I might as well do it in size 20 font. The computer pays no attention to audio level etc, thats just a side piece of info. The only way to prevent a copyright claim in terms of manipulating audio volume is to have no audio; there won't be any information in the video code for the software to detect then. There are cheesy methods of changing the audio significantly like making people sound like hamsters and then uploading the drama with everyone speaking in hamster. That along with big changes to the video might escape the YT software reach. This is obviously not an option for this channel and obviously not being done here. Besides, the way the Content ID system works, the music videos would be detected anyways; from the video part. The MVs on here are in good quality and unaltered except for size. So then why aren't all the videos on this cool channel instantly blocked? Well the detection part of copyrighted content is entirely computerized detection and only capable of that by itself; Content ID only sends a notice to the Copyright owners informing them that this video contains their content. There isn't some sort of instant ban by the big bad YT AI machine, this would be useless and half the videos on YT would never see the light of day. There is also a possibility that many of these MV's just aren't uploaded to the data base or their owners don't qualify for the program (the latter is a little unlikely for the big companies). So what actually happens? Well copyright owners have a variety of choices, they can do nothing, they can monetize the video and choose the share the monetization with the channel, they can block the video, or they can track the statistics. All of these actions can be country specific, e.g., JYPENT can block a reaction to GOT7 just in Canada. They don't because they haven't lost their minds. So why are the vast majority of videos on this channel still up? Assuming the copyright owners have uploaded content into the Content ID database and can block these videos they probably won't; the copyright owners are benefitting from these videos. I don't know if they are choosing to share the monetizing, how many are even going to monetize, how many are even part of the Content ID program etc. They get free exposure in the western world with these videos and other channels like JREKML; exposure that they usually can't get from the mainstream media unless the artist or group is already massive in the west somehow. Instead of paying for ads that random people don't want to see, there are nearly half a million people subscribed to this channel for the purpose of watching people react to the content that these copyright owners want more people to see. The more this channel puts out the bigger the following gets and the more potential for fans to be made, a general attraction to the Kpop industry to be increased. They also can actually profit off these videos. Like these channels are literal jackpots of free advertisement; and advertisement and exposure to the rest of the globe no less. Of course sometimes there are unlucky situations, I don't know why a couple videos have been blocked in the past; but I suspect there are things like licensing agreements in North America or other countries where other companies buy the rights to the content in those countries and want people to buy the content from them, or maybe it was a critical video, or some other dumb excuse. Sometimes the copyright owner keeps a really tight grip; the most recent Taylor Swift album has virtually no youtube Mp3 playlist compilation by random music channels that you can find so that you can listen the it for free; she has been outspoken about her beliefs in buying music etc. She didn't even make the album available for streaming on Apple Music or Spotify until 2 weeks after the album came out. This works for her (helped her sales go up) and she doesn't need the exposure. I also suspect a lot of the Korean companies have looser licensing and perhaps not as much overseas. Piracy in Asia is so big that huge licensing iron clad write-ups are a little futile. There is also a point where there is just so much stuff to pick and choose to sift through that the net benefit outweighs the negative. For the Hollywood industry or the movie industry of Korea (or most developed film industries of any country) that is obviously different, they might and usually benefit from a heavy handed approach, the K drama industry would lose tons of money if people just uploaded the drama in its entirety here or made a react video where they watch the entire drama and have it playing in the video for everyone to see. MV's are a promo; they are inherently different. Some Hollywood films have a blanket copyright claim policy where the movie is so big that they don't need the content shown in any channel and the net benefit of this approach is profitable for them and the negative is way too slight to even consider thinking about. So obviously the Content ID system and other services like it for the smaller creators is important, it really helps some youtubers out to prevent re-uploads by some A-holes for money (actually very common like Instagram accounts stealing random images and gaining thousands of subscribers etc) It prevents stuff like movies and shows being uploaded the day after it comes out and the loss of potentially 100s of millions in movie sales which would collapse the entertainment industry, etc. It prevents some crazy anti fan from using content and editing in images of nuclear war and genocide into the MV (though I think that sort of filth get taken down due to the many other YT rules). There are a lot of legal complications that can allow a channel like this to keep going or not. Those get super specific and there is no way to even open the topic since we don't know anything about what sort of licensing exists in countries for all these songs etc, it's one hell of a rabbit hole. However there is a sort of general rule of things like actual change to the content like discussing it, dissecting it, using clips for examples, basically any sort of real change means it is fair use. That can get dicey with people still copyright claiming anyways and then a dispute starts.

It was deleted because the vocalists were so disappointed in the results that they resorted to making rude comments about the duet partner. Also, a big argument emerged in the comments with people expressing their disappointment, which is okay, but some of them began attacking the classical vocalists' singing too and questioned their knowledge about singing (the vocalists criticized IU's airy singing style, saying they wished she could also sing in a solid tone in that range, which some people misunderstood as "she shouldn't sing in an airy style at all"). Anyway, it was a big mess and it is understandable Umu took the video down.

I love that you were working with a Duet Festival show, which I totally love to watch. The quality of singing in Korea, not just pros, but everybody, is so high. My favourite performances are definitely hong yihyun singing gold von den sternen from the musical mozart (gosh I hope he pursues a career in musical theatre) and the goodbye stage by all the kids. I cry sooo much when watching that goodbye stage😭😭 It would be very interesting to hear what the vocalists have to say about them :) you can also choose whichever performance you want if you decide to have them react to it since pretty much every stage is so fantastic.
