Thanks to KZbin, Vin Scully lives forever. This is when baseball was a real man’s game. When baseball had a Commissioner who knew what he was doing.

Joe Mullaney, who Vin Scully referenced at 1:14:00, was also referenced in the recent Tigers-Orioles game post from 1975 as the new coach of the ABA Baltimore Claws, which promptly folded a few weeks after that broadcast without playing a regular season game(only 3 pre-season games)

It's odd that Vin Scully says at about 24:40 that Orlando Cepeda would be leading the St. Louis Cardinals into Los Angeles, since Cepeda was in his third season with the Atlanta Braves at the time.

@@douglaslowe5 I can still recall, this was the first year I saw a Dodgers "regular season" home game televised in the LA area on channel 11 KTTV. It was the last game of the season against the Astros. The Dodgers won that night, but so did the Giants. Thus, the Giants won the NL West by 1 game over LA.

I remember the 71 season so well because I became totally immersed in baseball that year thanks to my dad. In fact, on a lark I just decided to search KZbin to see if there were any 71 games to listen to when I came across this gem. We were at the last game of the season listening to Vinny for updates on the Giant game. I was really heartbroken the Giants had won the West. The 71 season will always be the most memorable for me.
