This music always reminds me my early childhood life in Enugu in the late 70's, I use to live with my aunt who was a teacher then and her husband plays the music a lot, and each time I walk down our street then I hear music shops playing it, I grew up and fell in love with Joe Nez music, I always replace the CD each time it gets lost, hit like if you love ❤️ this iconic musician Joe Nez.

This music reminds me of my secondary schools days in the 70's, we have tenants from the east who used to play this cool music then in gongola state in the north of nigeria in a village known as ganye. i am still enjoying it here in yola these days. the names of our tenants were jude, dede, Ate, Antonia, they have all gone ack to the east, oh how i feel nostagia for my chidhood!, feeling emotional, feel like crying!, where did we originate and where are we going to?, Joe Nez rest in peace till we meet again!

He would come back from work with professor suya from owerri road Enugu, take his bath and sit and give us suya and then take his one bottle of PAL LAGER BEER and chill while playing this song. Old time love was undiluted. It was a knife with a face , but these days the love is full of deciets and bringing in exs into marriage is the in thing. Women testing the " Cassava," of other men cutting diseases , often times ringing in pregnancy of other men and insulting their husbands It is an evil time we are in now. God will save us with open eyes.

This writer knew Joe Nez as an uncle in Chief Unaeze’s compound in Umuajaka village, Ulakwo in Owerri North LGA. This writer was in born and raised in this compound, which he visited from his Lagos base just two months ago for a burial. And he saw and greeted and embraced Ndaa Cecilia, the late Joe Nez’s wife, also in the same compound. Joe Nez was born and raised in Ulakwo, died and was buried in Ulakwo. NTA Ch 6 Aba covered his entire burial in1978 ( I was a secondary school boy then). My compound was literally a musical Mecca for over 3 weeks as musicians and musical groups especially from the Eastern Region converged and entertained morning, afternoon, night in his honour before his burial. Joe Nez’s Top Six band, Original Wings of Aba, Super Wings of Aba, Apostles, The Flames, Founders 15, Action, Paulson Kalu, Christie Essien, One World, Cloud 9... so so many too numerous to remember. We the young ones were in the clouds during those weeks. Now Joe Nez’s father and mother might have hailed from the Mbaise area, but their children all of whom I know as uncles and aunts were born and raised in Ulakwo and only one went back to Mbaise to settle. His name is Anyaemele (Opigwe), a musician who sang the then hit song Martina Bu Nwannem. This is an authentic account as this writer can mention the names of all Joe Nez’s children and siblings. Two of his sons are currently involved in music, John and Isaac, the latter in the U.S.. To date Umuajaka Ulakwo is their village and their mother is there. This piece is out to help people to disregard speculations, rumours and their many versions.

Makes feel Nostalgic. He reminds me when I lived in Enugu with my 3 toddlers. The nearby hotel used to play this song till late nights. God bless the artist. Now I understand the real meaning of the song which is his ethical dilemma in mixing friendship with his tenant/landlady relationship. Brilliant mind for turning down the woman's advances because he had a purpose for traveling to Enugu. Pay attention young ones.

For those arguing about Joe Nez' Local Government of origin, pls he's from Ibeku Okwuato, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State. He lived and died in Ulakwo, Owerri and his corpse was brought back to his ancestral home in Mbaise. He was buried along Afor-Ibeku - Aboh Road were he still lies till date. However, let us note that music knows no ethnicity, no religion, no barriers. May God give us the likes of Joe Nez, Rex Lawson, Prince Nico Mbarga, Fell Kuti, Bob Marley, etc again........

Each Time, I listen to this music, it makes shake my head. I visited places in this world but PHC - Port Harcourt holds special place in my heart. I envisaged Port Harcourt being the Coolest Garden City in this Whole Wide World BUT today see what the so-called indigenes are doing to the LOVELY place in the name of power struggle. We often drive from Enugu to enjoy a weekend in the place but not any more. Shame Indeed The place was being built with love by all LOVERS of Garden City till these party jumpers thought otherwise. Yet, they cannot show which way they're heading, apart from accumulation of Belle-infrastructures 'For-Me-I-Alone'. SELF CENTER-ISM

As grateful as I am reconnecting with one of my late dad's favorite music in the world, I am sadden by so many account of lose here and how bad things have gotten on so many levels, in Nigeria today compared to when this music was released. May God restore the country of my birth in Jesus name, Amen!

This song reminds me of my young days... growing up in Enugwu. This song was always blaring from the record store on the ground floor of our yard at Edinburg Road. I feel nothing but nostalgia, listening to it now, as an adult. Good old days 😊💗

This music reminds me of my late mother. She will always ask me to play "Besi-nwam" (her version of the chorus Nosike). My mother's name is Bessy. So she assumes the song is calling her name...I love my mother. So every time I play this song I think of my lovely beautiful mother. May her gentle soul rest in peace. And to the indefatigable Joe Nez...May your soul rest in peace. You are dead but you live on to die no more.

Joe was more or less from my community. Joe was a great philosopher. He was an extinct breed of musician his type no longer exists. Joe was in a league of Rex Lawson, Celestine Ukwu, Israel Nwaoba, Oliver De Coque, Osadebe and Morroco... These men left a great lacuna that will be difficult to fill. I missed them greatly.. By God’s willing, we shall meet again in the Resurrection morning.. God bless your souls for me.
