Just listened to this with headphone….. jeez that voice nearly blew my head off! Its so hard to match up Judy’s mental state during filming this and her laughter and power in this outtake. She was just a one off and so pleased we have this to treasure x

good god the woman had a set of pipes on her. I've never heard her sing without an orchestra mixed in before - I always knew she had a voice like a foghorn but it never hit me just HOW loud this tiny little bird was til I heard this - she's like a wren!

The greatest star of all time and the greatest entertainer of all time! When I was performing in New York City at the top of the town in the Shelton Towers Hotel, Judy came in and sang with me for 2 hours! She wore a red hat with a feather...and a Mickey Mouse watch. She stood right next to me and rested her hand on my shoulder the whole time. I will never forget it.

I'll go my entire life and never experience a moment like that. I'd be less impressed by the second coming of Jesus than a second in the presence of Judy. And if she were singing...forget about it.

This is really an amazing clip. I've watched and read all sorts of sources about the making of this film, yet nothing compares to experiencing the work-in-progress like this. Judy was unique, unique, unique. My favorite moment of this video is when she messes up and laughs. It's a spontaneous moment of laughter that simply can't not be shared by the listener. Thank you very much for sharing this exciting video.

Judy, I was two yrs old when you died. I was eight years old when I understood of your existence. I still feel angry with Hollywood for abusing you as they drained your talent for their gain and wore you out. For your 47 yrs, you shone so brightly. You had so much more to give. But I think you live on in your amazingly fantastic daughter. Herself, a talent like your own. I love you both so much.

@@nstix2009xitsn lol Cant you hear how pathetic your comment is, "I'm pretty sure I know more about both women than you do."? You have absolutely nothing to measure that against. I suggest you stop digging holes for yourself, little boy. You sound so young and immature.

These various fragments show how the finished soundtracks were made up of a bunch of different pieces put together. They weren’t just one continuous take. Of course you’d never know it when watching the movie.

It's amazing how many layers "Swanee" has: Judy, the WB orchestra, the chorus, the taps, the canes, the tambourines - all mixed together to give the impression of a live performance!

It's kind of indecent to be hearing this, like listening in on an intimate phone conversation. But that laugh after she starts the lyric "Your wand'rin' child..." at 1:49 is irresistible.
@zolner24312 жыл бұрын
would she lipsync or sing during recording the actual number?
@gethappyConor2 жыл бұрын
Judy was known to sing live on the set "with" her own playback rather than strictly lip-sync when filming. Of course in the finished film you only hear the pre-recording that she was singing along to as no microphone was on set to capture her "live" vocal while filming.
@ClassicMusicals12 жыл бұрын
Yes - all singers actually sing when they are lip-synching to a pre-recorded track.
