With everything pretty well done on the 65 Fastback we began driving it around the neighborhood adjusting the little things before the long Haul began during Hot Rod Power Tour. After noticing a knock in the engine we had no reasonable choice besides swapping in a 1989 5.0L Fox body engine along with a 5 spd... neither of which we had ever heard running or shifting... oh and did I mention this all happened 4 days before Power Tour... which really left us with 3 days to get the job done! What could possibly go wrong!? What the video to find out how we made out in the long run!

I'm a little late to the game here since this was from 2019 but as a Mustang enthusiast I wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed all 10 of your videos in this series. You made me nervous & stressed plenty of times during the journey but I was happy for you it all come together in the end. The Power Tour seems like great, clean, genuine fun among old & new friends. You're a great videographer & narrator by the way; I know how much work you put into getting these filmed, edited & produced. Anyway, hope you've been well and thanks for the entertainment. Peace!

Dude, I don't care what anyone says, the 64.5 and 65 Mustangs will always be one of my favorite body styles for the Mustang platform. While the 427 CJ, the 429 FE, the 351C, and of course the legend of a 302W, are all very amazing loves of mine, I would LOVE to have a 65 fastback with a supercharged Coyote, or a turbo Voodoo, but like my grandfather used to say, we can all wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first... Still, you can't beat a bone stock 302W for reliability. HRPT is a brutal bashing on all cars that are entered, and all you can do is try to plan ahead and build something to the best of your abilities that will stand up to those tests. This is awesome man, I would give anything to be able to do this once before I die.

Thanks for taking us on the power tour. Is the 65 FB done? Appears to have a long way to go before you start on another build, let’s finish what we’ve started.

man your lucky there was no rush in the floor or bad rust al around, I live in FL and you can find decent deals anywhere but to find a good one with no major rust problems is hard. Fl has such an awesome classic car culture because of all the old retired people and then the southern truck and muscle/sports car culture but it can kill the old ones if they dont get restored

Great video, way to hang in there. Glad you made Power Tour! Did the guy in the blue mustang wreck it on power tour? Ouch. Looked like a beautiful mustang.

Pushed it to the last minute but made it👌 yes, he's a buddy of mine. It was a rainy day and traffic came with a brief hault at one of the checkpoints. Ended up locking the front brakes and slid into a newer car (think it was catfish camaro or GTO). He battled through it and made the best of a terrible scenario. Finished the rest of power tour getting people to sign the hood and other damaged parts. He's currently in the process of rebuilding it. All parts signed will be hung in his shop!👌

loving the sound of the 5 litre engine, do you think you will ever fix the original engine and put it back in? or will you just fix the old one and keep the 5 liter in?
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what's in store for the original engine... currently sitting on an engine stand, might take it apart and see what the cause of the knocking was. As for the 5.0 it's definitely staying in the car, it was my plan to swap it in after power tour... but plans clearly changed 😅😂!

think you will use the engine for a different project? and im excited for the next car, will be a 70's charger or camero?
@Theoldcarchannel.

@@TheSaltyForks If it's salvageable and not a pricey fix I'll probably use it on another car. As for the next project it's still a fomoco vehicle

Thank you... I would love an XB as well but they're a little far and a bit out of my price range Lol! Next series is going to be a cougar. But it's not getting built like the mustang... more of a revival, less of making it drive
