Harold blended together his huge personality, unique skate style, and an entire city. He was a true original. Here's a classic part from the 1998 Zoo York video.

I remember back in the '90s, I'll never forget this young man. He used to talk to me and hang out with me at club Nell's and some other clubs and venues in the village where I used to DJ and promote. He was such a gentleman and a sweetheart. First time I talked to this guy I loved him instantly. Loved by so many. I'm 53 now living in Florida, and he came across my mind so I just wanted to look him up. I miss you Harold. One of the very few people that was actually nice to me, even though I have autism.

Thank you April, for sharing your story with him. And for opening up in this comment. Having autism in a modern world makes us feel alienated huh..... but finding honest people like Harold keeps us going & helps us find ourself in the process. A lot of my friends left this world far too soon but gave me immortal lessons my heart & soul will never forget, nomatter which life Im living & which physical form Im in.

The first time I ever went to Supreme was in 94 or 95. I remember being super nervous because I heard you’d see pros there all the time. Walking up to the entrance I see some of the Zoo guys playing skate out front and Harold just chilling by the door. I get up to the door and Harold says “yo, I got Supreme stickers for sale, $5 each”. In my naivete I start opening my wallet and just then someone from Supreme come out and says “hey man you can get those for free inside”. As I walk in I can hear Harold saying something like “aw come on man I had him”. Harold helped me grow a little wiser that day lol

Shoot I gotta double that up for how hard this stuff makes me trip when I sk8. Come With Us by Chem Bros and like any Buju Banton maybe his greatest hits if you don't know him. Another great electronic album is F*cked Up Friends by Tobacco, the most underrated musical artist if you ask me. But those other genres have appeared in sk8 vids a lot more!!!

Carbon James This freestyle (and all the stuff in MixTape) is from the world-famous "Stretch and Bobbito" show, a NYC institution.

back in 90s hiphop was still a really fresh thing, so only talented people would come on surface. Beats were sampled from jazz recordings, and jazz itself is super quality, but yeah 90s hiphop has some kind of special atmosphere that lacks in modern hiphop, it may be the sampling or analog recordings

@@agamaz5650 true, plus we were bread different back in our era...The world was different in so many ways & hiphop reflected it just like today hiphop in this generation reflects how watered down society is as a whole....back in our era before social media men in general was the head & females were more likely to take there place in society & the home....Gay rights well they were none, if a nigga was out the closet back then in our era he got his ass beat & the females didn't support this motherfuckers like in this generation....We use to hang out on the block allnight long, well at least the real hood niggas did & everybody in the neighborhood knew who the major players were even the little kids knew it & looked up to street cats who played highschool football, basketball, could box & often sold drugs with there crew...Today in this generation there isn't any neighborhood heros or legends anymore....back in our day dudes like Rakim,Buckshot, Method man, Treach, Special Ed, Jeru the Damaja, Busta Rhymes & so many more were all neighborhood legends & got there name in the streets for putting in work...Today that is eliminated dudes dont dwell in the hood & have neighborhood football or basketball games, even the tumbling competitions between brothers in the hood is a thing of the past....in this generation niggas are online posting on social media instead of posting up in the hood.... Also we had REAL GANG CULTURE & activity back then....There was real BLOODS & CRIPS & shit was so real in our era that even rappers were not claiming the shit because they respected the niggas who were really in that gang culture & if you ran around claiming a set & didn't put in work then you had to pay severely.....NYC & Los Angeles had over 2,000 homicides in a single year....Today niggas are constantly throwing up gangsigns & claiming sets online & always talking gangshit when it's not active like in the 80's and 90's, but yet niggas talking gang this & gang that....SMH....half these dudes today would be choir boys back in the ruthless 80's & 90's.
