The sets are so full. Same sizes as today, but without books and the materials of a life lived, they just look like show rooms today. Absolutely love these older episodes I was too young to watch.

Missed watching this era of Days by one year 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Summer of 1985 when I started watching. I missed the '80's and '90's era. Great times.

Oh my goodness these 80s episodes take me back to highschool and how I would vcr tape them when I was in school and pray the bus would hurry and take me home so I could watch them lol. Peter Reckel is from Grand rapids Michigan and me and my friends would try to drive around his parents house so we could look at him lol. We never met Peter but in 1987 I was going to Ferris State University in Michigan and the bouncer at the bar was soooo cute. Me and my friend would hit on him and bring him McDonald's lol. To my surprise that cute bouncer was Shawn Christian!! He was on As The World Turns and then went to Days as Daniel. He was super kind and was never mean to us girls, he was way out of our league but he would always hug us and talk to us. Forever a Shawn Christian fan ❤❤..

OMG. the cat and mouse game of Roman Brady and Stefano DiMera. haha. The two were forever trying to up-one the other. Their storylines were a great view of Good and Evil and Obsession to outwit the latter. The writers loved the chemistry they created for the two rivals. And Stefano's dealing were a bit more descret compared to that of Clyde Weston of the current episodes. And poor Hope having to deal with Larry Welch. I still thought the two didn't work well off each other at the time. and Good ole Chris Kosichek(sp). I think this was before Jake's appearance and his storyline of the Salem killer. Watching this old episode brings back a lot of memories. However, the writing back then was centered more in Salem with now being a bit more global. Some arcs get repeated by new people, but some repeats get altered work a new outcome.

I remember when I started watching Days around this time (although, I started much earlier) I thought Days had the most beautiful cast. It was very Y&R. The cast was stunning. There was Anna, Gwen, Hope and Marlena. The guys were all these rugged guys like Don, Neil, Roman, Tony (with his shirt buttons down to his navel….LOL!!!) and, Bo. Days was on fire in the 80’s (as were all the soaps) but I thought Kristian Alfonso (she’s like a year older than me) was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. I thought for sure she was so much older than me. Friends and Lovers indeed.

The writers are clearly struggling with how to use Doug and Julie, who had powered the show through the 70s. I think they only lasted a few more months before they disappeared on an around the world cruise.

Agreed. There was a definite youth movement on the show. I think the show took a dip in writing after head writer Pat Falken Smith left.
