Take note of how many Hall of Famers were on the field that day!!!! Been a Raiders fan since 1973. I watched a lot of those games on NBC in Fresno , CA.

The clips of Davis and van Eeghen running on that great Steelers defense reminds me of the 2016 breakthrough game on Sunday night when that great o-line destroyed Denver's great defense at the Coliseum. Kept running the same play over and over and the Broncos couldn't stop it. That's greatness.

Saw them play the Eagles in Veterans Stadium in 76 on a cold November Sunday. Raiders dominated the game.

The playoff rivalry of the 70's Steeler/Raiders far surpasses any rivalry of the 80s,90s,2000s etc SF/Dallas never met five straight years in the 90s. They even swapped players Deion&Charles Haley, Raiders we're alway Raiders and the same with the Steelers.

The Raiders of the 70's will always be the most iconic Raiders teams. Tickets to the game back then were less than $10. Everyone could afford to go to an NFL game in the early to mid 70's.

That first game of the year was unbelievable it was hot 🔥 as hell at the Coliseum

That '76 Raider team probably arguably can be the if not one of the best team in NFL history.

Even though they went 12-4 I would argue that the 83 Raiders were better, that teM.was drenched in talent

Stabler was a gunslinger, he didn't care who caught it he was going to sling it. Threw an NFL record 8 interceptions in a single game vs the Orange Crush the next year.

Raiders now will never be like Raiders back than. Back than it was a true test of will and great showdowns Than it was who was the best. Now remember the courts said football was only for entertainment. So wwnfl allows refs to call whatever they want. Give the old blood and guts now anyday.

They barely beat the Patriots that year. If not for the bad call on Sugerbear Hamilton, they would have choked again.

@@whataboutrob442 And 2 of the Pats touchdown drives were kept alive on Raider penalties after the Pats punted the ball away. More total penalties and yards called on Raiders. Pats also turned the ball over three times. You got beat by the superior team.

I agree 100% … the only teams that could maybe be considered as possibly equal to the 76 Raiders would be the 67, 68, 69, 72, 74, 75, 77, 80 & 83 Raiders

Man , I know! That pissed my dad off , he always declared the greatest unpickable game would have been the Stabler led Raiders vs the Staubach led Cowboys, the team with the lead with time on the clock was the team in trouble! Year after year they just missed but 77 was the year and the refs killed it in Denver

@user-hs7qf5vv2n below average defense, easy schedule, and close wins vs ass teams. The 62 packers, 67 raiders, and 68 colts were much better in comparison. He is still the best team in raiders history. It's just not an all-time great team

Yah, they only beat the Pittsburgh Steelers twice that year, pure luck

4th in points scored, 12th in points allowed. One of the best offensive lines of all time. One of the best passing attacks of all time (Stabler, Branch, Biletnikoff, Casper), deep at RB (Mark van Eeghen, Clarence Davis, Pete Banaszack). The defense gave up yards at times but in the end no one was good enough to beat them except the Patriots (and they avenged that loss in the playoffs). That secondary (Willie Brown, Skip Thomas, Jack Tatum and George Atkinson) made it very hard for opposing offenses to keep up with the Raiders' scoring efforts.
@Fireyninjadog4 ай бұрын
Good guys, but they didn't always play like how they should. They struggled against bad teams, and the defense kinda sucked. If ray Hamilton dosent get called for a legal hit by 1976 standards, they don't win the super bowl@@jacob9538
