@@diannebuswell1805oody for you. So go watch them, racist. Use a few brain cells, this happened in 1981 in Oregon. How many non-white (minority) residents lived in Oregon at that time? Probably damn few. You’ve shown your ignorance here quite abundantly. This happened, thus there’s no reason why this movie should be banned.

This movie was made im my hometown of McMinville Oregon. I was 22 years old at the time.. I graduated from McMinnvile High School in 1978 "Home of the Grizzles" ! At aprox. 34:41 I can be seen standing on the ramp that leads up to the stadium. I'm the young girl with blonde hair, wearing light tan pants and a brown leather jacket. I'm standing next to a little boy with his arm draped over the railing. My big "movie moment" ! Sure takes me back ! I'll be 60 years young this year.

Fortunately this movie is a docudrama. Based on actual accounts. If you view the credits, Tami Maida was a technical consultant for the film. My guess is it her desire to keep the story within the boundaries of actual events.

Great memories watching this movie. Nice seeing a movie where teenagers and adults are kind to each other and care about the feelings of their friends, neighbors, and teammates. The scene when Mrs. Maida is invited to her neighbors home, ostensibly for coffee, and she receives a heartfelt apology for the cool treatment her family had received is very well done.

The team are so kind with her, I liked so much how they treat her like a little sister outside the game and in practices, and inside the field they treat her with such respect. I liked a lot too they went to buy her a dress and also the lady on the shop that sold them the dress cheaper without them notice it ♥♥♥
@joec9693
@joec9693 4 жыл бұрын
I always appreciated that they never did the "Jerk Jock" stereotype and that the team only cares about the fact that she can actually play really well. They were never mean just awkward at first not knowing how to act around her (tackling her but apologizing for it) but once they saw she could actually play that was all they needed to know. And once the most popular boys in the school accepted her pretty much everyone else accepted her, it was instead the parents the "adults" that acted like stereotypical high school kids mean comments, gossiping behind peoples back very cliquey.

They had 62 teams in the league, they just played another Superbowl but lost to Boston Militia yesterday. It was San Diego's 3rd Superbowl appearance in 4 years.

I used to play basket ball with a young woman and she was 6'1" and her brother was 6'6" when we had a pickup game at the local park I always had her on my team. She knew the game well and she schooled her older brother and his friend who was also 6'6". Even though both her brother and his friend could dunk the ball, She knew how to run the pick and roll and she played it to perfection. She knew defense and would box out bigger and taller players and she played in the team concept better than most other players had a tendency to ball hog where as she often would look to pass the ball first to the player who had the open shot or she would take the shot when she was that player.

I think it's so cute how the guys were starring at the dress ❤️❤️

Definitely Diana// what was awesome about that scene was the trick they pull making you think the dress saleslady is gonna snob them right out of the store. Then you see her realize what they came for and how much those guys loved Tami and how much they wanted her to feel as loved as she really was and to feel like a lady. I guarantee (at least in the movie) she ate the cost of that dress to do something nice for the guys and for Tami. I loved the looks on their faces when she told them $125. I loved this movie seeing it when I was a kid in the 80s. Watching it here on KZbin in 2017 and it still brings the waterworks on.

Good for you and the team. I liked when girls would play sports. I always found that they were the easiest to teach the fundamentals.

Really fantastic movie, even more because it's based on a true story! Great actresses/actors all of them, but I simply adore Helen Hunt (it's allowed to say because she was playing a highschool kid but already 20yo when doing this movie). Unfortunately the picture quality isn't very good, also the format. Nevertheless: Thank you so much for uploading and sharing.

I'm the same age as Helen Hunt.... The SAME thing you're thinking - HAPPENED in 1983 too!!! 😆😊😃😉 More so, because we didn't have AIDS, barely any criminal sex, or any of the degenerate, low life, no scruples idiots like now... But Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll? HELL YEAH!!
