On November 17th, 2022 the Hollywood Museum celebrated the 50th anniversary of The Waltons. This special event included a historic Q&A with several cast members and a new exhibit with artifacts from the show. The Q&A was moderated by film historian Leonard Maltin. All surviving cast members were there in person except for Jon Walmsley, Mary Beth McDonough and David Harper.
Jon Walmsley (Jason Walton) connected via Zoom. Unfortunately, there was a bad internet connection and his monitor was blocked.
Mary Beth McDonough (Erin Walton) sent in a video that is not included. She told the story of how the wardrobe department couldn’t find the right dress for her character's wedding on the show. She ended up wearing her mother's wedding dress, after suggesting it. For Mary Beth, that made it special. The dress is in the exhibit and can be seen in this video.
David Harper (Jim-Bob Walton) was advertised to be there via video, but there was a technical issue.
There were many actors from the 1970’s in the audience including Christopher Knight (Peter Brady), Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady) and Anson Williams (Potsie Weber). Click on the link below for a complete description:

I feel like "the Walton's" should be considered not just a fine example of what Hollywood can do for television, but also an historical landmark of what kind of families the greatest generation soldiers came from.

@@rossbrowning5201 U R right! The Walton's in the 1970's were definitely the exception. It was a show that portrayed what was best about family, friends, the Depression, and basically history. And brought families together at the end of the day in order to watch it. And sometimes talk about it during the commercials.

I’m 45 , as a kid I remember the Walton theme song vividly, as an adult , with all of the negative crap in the world these days, it’s nice to tune it out for an hour watching a tv program that promotes the good stuff in life ie… family , love , values , morals , comedy and always inspiring hope and trying to see the good in people. Thank you Eric, Richard, Michael , Judy, Kami & the rest of the Waltons cast.

This took place on my 54th birthday. I have 6 wonderful kids and 3 grandchildren. We’re often called “the Waltons “ because of how our family operates. We’re far from perfect! But I was deeply influenced by this show and the values based from Earl’s real life. Funny note: my partners name is John and he’s a journalist. We jokingly call him John-Boy. One of the reasons I loved the show so very much was that they showed how difficult life truly could be during the Depression and how many real life hardships would become something so many families faced back then. And how it it was their faith in their Lord Jesus Christ that held the ship always from sinking and the great example of the adults that lead and taught their children to become the good men and women the children grew to become. You can see that in the real life family of Earl Hamner and his siblings! Just a wonderful example of good Christian living and what that eventually produces!!!❤🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏

I'm now 61 and watched the Waltons with my parents each week when it aired in the 1970s. My parents were older when I was born--my mother almost 41 and my father 46. They lived through the Great Depression in rural N.C. and were transfixed by each episode. I liked this show too, and I appreciate the memories I have of watching it with them. This show and others like it helped instill in young people a moral sensibility and a strength of character. This show and its characters were not only entertaining and inspirational, but they were instructional, as were many other family series of this ilk (Little House on the Prairie, Good Times, The Cosby Show, Gunsmoke). Thanks for posting this video and bringing together the cast for a reunion.

52 here, my dad was 51 when I was born, and my mom 44 years of age, my parents lived through the great depression, my dad was a WW2 combat veteran - north African campaign . I still watch this show on METV every day, it reminds me of my parents and how much I wish I could have lived then.... even as hard as it was back then, I'd take that over these days if I could. I have my own and now grown children . I raised them on shows such as this one. always nice to hear of another 'change of life' kid such as myself. I adored them and just about everyone of the ' greatest generation' they were wonderful people. I'm glad that shows such as this are still on television these days if some of the kids nowadays would watch them and hopefully try to emulate life from back then. BTW when I turned 51 I thought of my dad often and wondered how he was able to manage having a baby in the house ( my mom too) but they took it in stride - just like they had done all of their lives. Judy Norton has a fantastic You Tube channel, if you haven't heard. It's full of stories about the cast and the characters that made The Waltons so great.

Have just found it on Prime and have been binging the show. Life seems so complicated now, it is wonderful to slow down and watch about what really matters.

That scene Michael talked about, with Ralph and the little boy going to Verde’s house - to me, that’s one of the most emotional episodes of the Waltons, all because of Ralph. It felt SO real.

That little boy was not the actor Michael Learned said....it was Todd Bridges who shortly thereafter became famous on "Diff'rent Strokes" as Willis.

You can tell how close of a relationship Michael and Ralph had just hearing her telling the story.

When I hear that theme song, I know I’m going to have a great TV program experience that will warm my spirit, give strength to my soul and will be kind to my flesh. 100% quality. They can all be proud of the work they did and left a legacy never to be matched.

It's funny- when the Waltons were on in real time, I never watched the show. If I was flipping the channel and heard that theme song- I'd keep flipping. The show looked like it would be corny to me. Then, one day, when the show was in syndication, I watched an episode- and became hooked. I mean hooked. Especially the early years. The family dynamic was irrepressible and the stories were interesting. Now, whenever I hear the theme song, I get the same feeling that you do.

These cast members are so gracious and kind. I love watching the youtube videos by Judy and following Kami, Mary and Eric who share their own lives and families with us so generously. I am a forever fan. By the way, I sure hope the Hamner house continues to be open to the public.

My favorite show ever!!! It was like my own family, well my Dad's family, only there were 10 kids in his family and only 4 rooms in the entire house!! But the mountains of Virginia are imbedded in our very souls, natives of the land since late 1600s. It was an all day drive back then to visit my grandparents from northern Virginia to the southwestern tip, so watching The Waltons each week made me feel like we had had a visit with them (I knew they were watching as well). Thank you for precious memories, and even a young girl crush on John Boy!! LOL!!

I watched it back in the day, and I still watch it now. Hands down, it's still the best show. Clean, loving, honest. Today's shows are garbage, but I thank God we can keep watching The Waltons.
