My explanation is not good at side slope canal.. so please refer below explanation. Apologies for that. @1946 Side slope canals are used to irrigate the land between hill top and hill valley. So they flow in between hill top and valley. They flow perpendicular to contours. As they are parallel to natural drains they dont need cross drainage works. (Natural drains flow from hill top to valley)
