Lovely to see that people are noticing Classroom of the Elite's prowess as one of the best school/High IQ anime. Especially when s2 is coming out, it will possibly even be one of the best school anime this entire year!

Animation in ep 2 and 5 were kinda strange. But the plot is great enough for it to be in top 3 easily. And that's BEFORE main events happen

@@N-Ice_ I agree the anime was very off those eps, its most likely that Lerche is outsourcing these episodes to different animation companies to save a little extr money to animate the upcoming climaxes. Other than that, these are the same people who animated assassination and ronpa, not sure if they are ever gonna be like they were.

If u really like this series by the end I suggest reading the LN, ik there are always ppl who say that the source material is better but that is actually the case here. The anime and LN almost feel like 2 completely different stories with different characters, they really dropped the ball with this adaptation

I mean LN and Anime are fairly different, mostly by portrayal of various characters Ayanokoji is much more of a "good guy" with good intentions in the anime and waaaaay more sociable (let me remaind you that in LN version of the shop scene from this episode he trays to joke to Horikita and goes with a line "Do you know I dont have armpit hair" or smth along those lines...) Most girls are slightly different too. This are not as much of "character differences" as they just have slightly different feel, a bit more rude here, a bit more pleasant there, nothing big tbh. But saying " dropped the ball" is way too harsh. Its still very very good, just feels slightly different.

@@blackpepper2610 spoiler alert: There's a lot of monologues cut out, ayanokoji has a way more interesting character in the LN, horikita is almost a tsundere in the anime for some reason + they not only took away kei screen time but they also gave her swimming pool scene to horikita for some reason, she's just casually swimming there even tho she's conscious of her scars. The anime has changed too much, enjoyable on its own tho

The pay off at the end, episode 12 is huuuge. It's only 12 episodes, so you can just power through instead of dropping it. Because the story really explodes at the end, and in the upcoming seasons.

Nice, I just started watching it too, to be caught up for the sequel! So I don't know more than you do, but about the 'elite' school having delinquents and the like, I thought perhaps they're coming from money, or families of influential people, etc.. (i.e. pretty much what happens in actual elite schools in real life). About the MC's personality: Well I imagine him being so unenthusiastic about everything is written on purpose to be boring, so I wonder if there's more to him; I mean he doesn't look like he comes from money/politicians/etc... and he doesn't strike me as an elite student either, so why is he here? There has to be something else about him. Or perhaps he's some kind of genius who's bored by everything (both in school, and in life)? I DO like that he's not the typical MC though; In the bus scene I thought for sure he'd be the one to let the old lady sit, typical good guy MC... But no. So I'm curious to find out what's his deal!

People said to read from the start because the anime changed many things, so you will be confused for example about Kei (class reps girlfriend) being a central character, who barely got any time in the anime. In fact they even changed the speech at the swimming pool centre from Kei to Suzune...

Im a reading nerd lol I love to read long Visual Novels too. I have platinumed Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 and played all three Danganronpa games ^^ ( Of course those are not the only Visual Novels I've played, but my faves.) I really really enjoyed The Classroom Of The Elite Light Novels, they just drew me in and I couldn't stop reading,

Just to let you know, the school doesn't only care about grades, as mentioned before this school is based on merits and it has 100% Employment after Graduation. The anime also didn't mention that the School doesn't have tuition fees for students they are free to enroll aslong they pass the minimum requirements of the Entrance Exam. PS: This anime gets better during Season 2 and even Season 3 so enjoy the ride!

I like this show a lot and plan to eventually read the light novels, I’ve got a million more things to read first though. CotE was I believe my fourth anime (not including Pokémon) and I will always remember it, even if it’s not nearly as good as it was to be back then as a relatively new anime watcher.

For starters, its not an ecchi show at all so dont be put off by the name, its mostly romance comedy and psycological drama, it has a very captivating storyline, do take it up at some point, you will love it foshooo

Both anime and LN are great but in a different way, LN is a slow-burn kind of fun, while the anime is a more fast-paced, big-reveals type. I think the best way to enjoy both is to start with the anime, then expand with the LN chapters that were already covered by the anime in order to learn more about some characters and have more content and scenes
