I’m a retired educator. This is an excellent video I wish I had seen as a beginning teacher and would recommend to be shown during a teacher prep class. Unless things have changed drastically, these are the practical things that aren’t covered in teacher prep and would make a big difference in a smooth start to a teaching career.

Thank you so much! That’s my hope with this KZbin channel. To help teachers with all the ins and out of teaching that you don’t learn in college.

Just found your videos and can't stop watching!! I am also a very organized person/teacher of 4th graders and starting my 20th year! Thanks for your hard work!

Great ideas! I notice you have a black crate with student numbers. Do you store all student work? Or do you have students keep their own work in folders/binders? What do you recommend works best for primary? Thank you!
@msrachelvincent4 ай бұрын
Students keep work they are working on in a folder. The crate with numbers is for graded work that I file to send home with students in the Thursday Folders. I used folders when I taught 2nd grade but it's been quite a while since I taught primary so I don't have the best answer for you.

I could listen to you forever! Some things you can listen to over and over again! Never stop making these videos! Why not make an audio book or audio ezine that we can listen to each term? Good for thought😂😂 7:55

You're too kind! I have so many ideas that I would love to do, but not enough time in the day!! Maybe one day! I am planning another organization video in the next couple of months!

You could also do quarterly workshops or annual workshops or termly workshops where we get to see and hear you live...as well as Q and A, as well as get to tell you how awesome you are. I still depend heavily on your wisdom and cunning each school year..😊😊

You are sweet! Workshops are definitely something I would like to do eventually.

What font did you use to label? It looks so cute!
@msrachelvincent11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure which label you're referring to, but most of my fonts are from Amy Groesbeck on TPT.

Where is the plastic rainbow drawer from? The one you use for subjects. 😊

I got it from Michaels! It was kind of pricey, so I waited for a sale and used my teacher discount. But it’s great quality!!

I really wish this had captions. Even auto-captions, with all their flaws (and occasionally hilarious hijinks) are better than nothing. Like students, not all teachers are hearing... or sighted... or able-bodied.

I agree and have tried to turn them on for this video. For some reason, KZbin is not allowing me to change that on this particular video and I'm not sure why. I will continue to look into it. My other videos have auto captions available.

I don’t have a “missing parts” container. If students find a missing part they need to take responsibility to put it back where it belongs. I don’t have time to go through a container and put things away. Items would probably stay in there all year 😂 When a student brings me a piece of something I comment back please put it back where it belongs.
@msrachelvincent2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha...yea mine doesn't get emptied very often either. And I totally have my students put missing pieces back where they go. This is just for items that we don't access very often that are already put away in a closet or cabinet.

My problem is I don’t have my own classroom. I move from classroom to classroom.

I can understand how challenging it must be to not have your own classroom. We have a few of teachers like yourself in our school.
