I LOVE the crates on the bottom shelf behind your desk. I had no idea they would hold hanging file folders until end of year last year when I was trying to store everything away. My classroom has one wall that is all low cabinets and the other side all high cabinets built in, buy those crates fit in them! Looooove!

I love the idea for storing student school supplies! I’m about to start teaching Kindergarten and I worry that if I leave the supplies on the table all day it will be really tempting for them to play with them. So I think only having things on the tables that they need will be really, really helpful! Thank you so much for making a video like this. It was so helpful and I hope you post an updated version soon!

Love all your videos! For my anchor charts, I have a hamper (no lid) and I roll them and put a rubber band to hold it on both ends. On the outside (on the top), I put a label describing what it is (ex. ELA-Main Idea). You can color code the labels by subject for easy access. Hope this helps someone.

Great ideas Shelley! I'd know labeling is a true game changer for me. I have cubbies inside my classroom and the ones my students don't use, I use for storage and hang a curtain over it, so you don't see all the stuff! I have also used tall laundry baskets to hold posters. Keep up the great work! Third grade is the best! :)

For student supplies, usually each student has their own pencil pouch with scissors, crayons.... I do keep class supplies in hand for those that forget them or run out that day. Yes, I love the teacher tool box for all that little miscellaneous stuff. Your anchor charts on pants hangers is such a good idea! Where did you get the clear bins that you put on the wall?

Hi, I loved your video!. Where can I get the clear file holders? and how did you make the colored paper prints "labels" (need to copy, admin misc, teacher resources) LOVED IT

I teach kindergarten at a daycare and the most annoying thing was figuring out how to organize student supplies. So I went to dollar tree and got cake pans (you’ll need two per table) and marbles and made a turntable. Then to label them I laid down colored paper in the pan and hot glued it, then I hot glued a bunch of plastic cups to the paper and use them to store crayons, markers, scissors, glue sticks, and pencils, we keep them on our art shelf and they don’t take up that much space. But it works because all the kids have access to what they need and if they can’t reach they just have to turn the pan. I found this idea on Pinterest btw.

I love your math curriculum organization! I have mine organized in my file cabinet and like you mentioned, it just doesn’t work for me. For student supplies, I also used to have caddies. This year I still have caddies but they only store glue sponges, whiteboards, and 2 crayons boxes(each filled with 2 boxes of crayons to share). Their pencils, eraser, dry erase marker, and dry eraser are in their own pencil pouch. Their pencil pouch stays on their table during the day and travels with them wherever they need it.(I have flexible seating) At the end of the day, it goes in their drawer.

In my classroom each student has a three ring binder pencil zip pouch zippy tied upside down (zipper down) to the legs of their chair. Each of my students have crayons (in a small crayon box that claps close from dollar tree; not an actual crayon box), a pair of scissors, a glue stick, a small cup of playdoh, and gel writing pad. We will add stuff as the year goes on and we use more items.

Shelley, how much would you say is a reasonable amount of money to invest into your first year classroom? Especially if you're straight out of college?
@kristinchappell66775 жыл бұрын
I would say wait and see what you get once you get in your classroom. Talk to mentor and team teachers to see what resources you have available before you spend anything. If you do have to spend your own money, be sure to keep it simple and make a list of the essentials. Don't buy before you have a specific need for it, otherwise you will buy things you end up not using. Keep receipts of things bought for your class for tax purposes (some states have tax credits for money spent by teachers up to a certain amount), and make/keep an updated list of things you bought with your own money, in case you decide to move classrooms or districts later on.
