Measure the length you need to plug your audio into the computer and buy a LONG cord-that way you can keep your desk area in the spot you like!! You can take the cord tight against the wall/baseboard too so it won’t get in the way. I had to do that for my internet plug!

As a first year teacher, it is SO refreshing knowing that I’m not the only one who gets super overwhelmed when setting up my classroom! A lot of classroom set up videos I watch just make it seem like so much fun (which it is), but they don’t really show some of the “real” moments... so thank you for this!

Your classroom looks huge! I agree that facing the windows to teach feels different, plus depending on which way your room faces you could have morning/afternoon sun to contend with. Depending on the type, you might be able to run a 50'+ cord from the audio box along the outlet enclosure to where you want your desk! That could potentially be expensive though. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
@FlightDeckWeatherTower5 жыл бұрын
That's what I was going to suggest looking into. I'm not sure if the school would be a good resource or not, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the school if there's an extra one you can use before buying the correct length needed.

I would do blue tooth speakers and then that way you wouldn’t have to deal with plugs in your way in my opinion. I could see how the lighting would be a problem while teaching kids. You could buy curtains for the windows so it’s not as bright. I also like how you thought of the layout idea. The thing to do is get some paper and draw your classroom then figure out where to put things kind of like a blueprint for building a house. I’m thinking about being a daycare or preschool teacher or maybe even a kindergarten teacher but kindergarten you would have to do grades. I really love working with little kids and I just feel like a magnet when I’m around little kids:-) I love your classroom a lot:-)

I have been teaching for 11 years and this year moved from only ever teaching Year 5,6,7 down to Year 3. (Being in Australia my year started in Jan). I had the same feeling of overwhelm particularly as the resource book and games i had gathered weren't going to work for Year 3 but one thing I realised was that a lot of supplies I had were still so relevant, just used in different ways. I used dice, counters, number tiles, hundreds boards/place value cards (just enxtended versions in year 3) in both year levels. (MAB blocks were also good for differentiation). I also used scrabble tiles and letter prompts in Year 6. One resource i found invalueable was a vocab book (like a thesaurus - although i ended up doing up mt own one from a range of resources) that they cinstantly referred to in English. Be encouraged - if you have good pedagodgy and build relatjonships with your students, then your class will learn. The resources will be developed over time.

I have those dumb flower desks, and they are the bane of my existence. I can't stand the groups of 4, particularly because we put 2 kids to a desk, so there's 8 of them in a group, which leads to too much talking. My kids this year prefer either the desks individually, so just 2 kids at each, or we make snakes with them of various lengths. My favourite is just 2 desks together, with 4 kids at the group facing each other. But there are lots of things you can do other than the big flower, it just requires some maneuvering!

I had the same problem with my class because the computer has to go in the front next to the Smartboard and I did not want my desk there. So, I got a cheap table from IKEA that was maybe $25 (it is the one that sells the tabletop and legs separately), and I use that for my computer. When I am teaching a whole group lesson, I teach from that computer desk/Smartboard area. Then, I put my desk in the area that I wanted it to go without worrying about the computer. And the table is great because it isn't too wide so it doesn't take up too much space in the front of my room!

Hello! So I'm going into 7th grade and I just need an idea of the usual school supplies we need. Can you help me?
@katieeeelewis59895 жыл бұрын
I'm going to seventh grade too! You usually just need folders for all of your classes, notebooks for each class or a couple of five subject notebooks, extra lined paper, sticky notes, pencils, pens, highlighters, a pencil bag, a binder if you want it, and maybe graph paper. I don't know how your school is but teachers normally tell you what you will need for their class within the first week of school. Middle school starts at seventh grade in my school so I'm not to sure if this is right but I'm going off of what my brother says. Hope it helped though!
@lindsey90945 жыл бұрын
AvocadosaretheBest !!! I just finished 7th grade so you’ll probably need loose leaf, graph paper, notebooks, folders, headphones, calculator, sticky notes, highlighters, glue, pens and pencils. you know, the basics. my teachers usually supply everything like glue, rulers, protractors, scissors and calculators. There should be a school supplies list that you can find at a store or if you look it up. you really only need the essentials and then they will tell you what special items you might need. 7th grade was definitely a fun year, you get a lot more freedom from 6th grade and you’re not a newbie anymore haha
@samanthaespino68535 жыл бұрын
