Most of my teachers have a desk for grading and such and a separate desk for the projector/smart board hookup to the computer
@jess852545 жыл бұрын
That’s how my classroom is set-up. I have built in shelf’s the length of one wall with my teacher desk right in front of them and then my smart board hook up and phone are on the opposite wall with a small table for myself to have my laptop and document camera set up. I like it because it forces me to get more steps in even when I am just working in my classroom without students.

@@artecrafter4349 They sit on benches, so they're not on the floor. I always give them the option to sit on a chair or to sit at their desk but I would say 90% of the time they choose to sit with the group. I've taught both ways - group meeting arrangement and them at their seats and I find the engagement and discussion is so much stronger when they're all together. I've taught in classrooms where it wasn't possible in the space and really missed it. Also I'm in Canada so in Grade 6 they are 10/11. I do find by the end of the year they're starting to "grow out of" the group meeting area so we switch it up. Depending on the lesson our arragement changes but generally our lessons are largely discussion based so it works great :)

I am currently interning at a school during there summer school. The school is 6-12. I love it. You are going to love 6th grade. Only thing I noticed is trying to keep kiddos on task is the only issue. Love older kiddos cause they work independently, very engaged, and they understand jokes. I don't plan on being a teacher. I want to go into school counseling. I want to be that ear to guide them through the rough times.

This is so exciting! I know you feel overwhelmed, but you will do fine. Believe it or not, a lot of the comprehension material will be stuff that you can recycle through even in 6th grade depending on the level of your students. Plus, you can create worksheets to beef up the rigor that you have. Math fact practice will always be needed. I have friends who have gone from third to sixth and have said that a lot of what you have taught is what they are working on with a few more components added. Looking forward to more great things to come!😊

Best of luck to you in your third year of teaching. It takes you three years to get used to the teaching profession, but this year will be a bit more challenging because you have switched grade levels. You will do fine. Consider yourself blessed that you have so much natural light from all of the windows in your classroom. Now that you moved your two green chairs, I wonder if you can ask your principal to get that television out of the room and not pose a risk to students who are reading in the corner.

One thing I just thought of that you might need to know is that 6th graders smell a lot worse than 3rd graders especially after a day or physical activity outside PE Time anything like that. I taught 6th grade for 2 periods of the day at the end of the day in West Texas just very hot most of the time and honestly 32 6th graders pre-adolescents in the afternoon and a portable was almost unbearable.🤪 So, I want to tell you to make sure that your room is properly ventilated and that you may be stock up on some kind of bath & body wallflower or febreze clips or febreze spray or something along those lines just to make your classroom a little bit more appealing especially at the end of the day. 😁😄
