My take on the beginning was not a "i just met you but here is my ship" and "l am Sarah, the head of Constellation. I am now your follower" Berrey used VASCO to insure that you could not steal the ship and that it went directly to Constellation with no unnecessary devotion. And Barret trusted VASCO to get that done. And Sarah specifically went with you to judge if you could be trusted with the responsibility of the ship and duties of Constellation. Just my take. Still a little contrived I guess, but not nearly as bad imo

I don't understand why one of the options on the Constant situation did not include the fact that they had filed papers for the exclusive rights to the planet almost 200 years ago?
@Robbini0 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it was considered the same way as people 'bought stars' already, when there's no way to actually reach them. Novel, but useless and in no way enforceable. And checking back, Diana says 'When we left Earth, there were no claims on planets this far into space. We had assumed we were the only ones attempting a generational journey such as this, meaning there would be no need for a formal claims process. Regardless, my ancestor, Rupert Brackenridge , did manage to file a charter for this planet's first colony, to be named New Jamestown. According to his records, no one took it seriously when he field it. So likely, it was either ignored , or the record were lost to the ages.' So, either no basis for it, no recognized law for it being viable back then or just ignored enough .

Filed with whom? There is no one organization that could grant those rights in our time. Also, none of those organizations exist anymore. Although you would hope that the UC (essentially Earth under a single government - when it started) would have kept records. The option I missed was when talking to Oliver --- So, I suppose I'll just head over the SSNN and tell them we need to raise money for this Ancient Colony and explain that Paradiso's position is "just make the problem go away", and I wasn't inclined to follow their suggestion about overloading reactors.

Yes, I get it, when you negotiate, you have to ask for more than you intend to get so as to be able to compromise to a more reasonable level without losing too much, but her initial stance is ridiculous especially given how they're willing to accept a clearly WAY more reasonable solution in the end. That's like if I asked someone to become my submissive slave b***h forever as my starting point when what I'm really gunning for is for them to help me move to my new apartment next thursday. XM 2311 is an imitation of modernized 1911s... given the nomenclature, I can only assume it is an experimental pistol developed aboard their vessel.. it shows all the hallmarks of modernized 1911s with the grooving and porting on the slide (which allows dirt and grime to get into the action of the gun, thus is BAD for combat guns) and the frame rail. Not to mention a imitation of a titanium nitride or possibly ceramic finish. I much prefer my 1911s "HK Blue" ceramic finish and far less decorative machining, but I DO envy the rail mount. Being able to mount a tactical light has certain advantages in home protection.

Hey Oxhorn at 1:03:27 you wonder what that Kid meant with "I'm so excited i could platz" and if that's Lingo they developed. I'm German and to "platz" is german for blowing up. "Ich platz/platze" = "I blow up". My guess was they either had a German on Board and that came into their Lingo, kinda like American English uses quite a few German Words through German Immigrants like "Schmutz" "schlepp" etc. or of course "Kindergarten". All of those are German Words that made it into American English over Time. Prost & Cheers from the Bavarian Alps

@chartreux1532 Жыл бұрын
@@cl3mb0t So it means the exact same thing which is what i meant with the NPC being yiddish and using a lot of German Words.Most yiddish german dialect comes from the Rhineland Area and "plattdeutsch" where they in fact also say "plotz". Example: "Ich plotz glei" "Im gonna explode" - like after you ate too much f.e.. Definitely love the fact that as a German you can really easily understand yiddish

@@chartreux1532 A lot of it, for sure! Etymology makes my head hurt after awhile, but sometimes looking into where certain words came from is just interesting. :)

Either be upset that they only added landmarks or be happy that they chose to add some remnants at all. It seams to me that Ox was upset when he first landed on Earth and there was nothing left to show humans where ever there. With no atmo, we would get more devastating meteor showers... There would still be more structures than we see. Due to the nature of our construction methods, with no atmo, decomposition of metal buildings would be slowed, but something like the shard would not exist, especially with so much glass intact while everything around it is reduced to dust. If humans vanished tomorrow, it would take hundreds of years for our major structures to collapse (in large part due to environmental erosion, acid rain (while our pollutants work their way out of the atmosphere), and rust) there SHOULD at least be ruins of other structures around the shard. A lack of atmo would preserve our debris. With no O2 rust would be slowed from taking hundreds of years to taking tens of thousands if not millions of years to remove our metal structures... I am not sure what variables things like solar winds would contribute other than it being calculated that the american flag planted on the moon missions would bleach to white under the intense unfiltered UV. Our plastics MIGHT degrade faster (one bonus), but other materials may well last far longer as mentioned above. A projection of america without human intervention calculated that in desert regions we would see herds of a new WILD camel breed roaming the desert. Meanwhile it is calculated that areas where we created water sources out west will form new oasis'. From the midwest to the dust bowl on the other hand will likely regrow into dense forests (over the course of several tens of thousands of years, thousands of generations for the trees, but they will creep westward as more seeds fall each year) though it is very possible that much of the south and southeast is beyond salvage and will become a new sahara like desert (it is believed that ancient agriculture contributed to desertification of north africa) and we have done similar in much of the US, but the heat in the south will be a contributing factor unless that changes over time (a big unknown). Back to lore... if solar winds stripped the atmosphere, it is also possible that some of these solar flares (such as we have been hit by in the real world) would create a firestorm on a freeze dried world without an ionosphere to protect us.

I can see mutual benefit to continuing a relationship with them... They are going to continue traveling, and scanning planets... a lot of data for Constellation... not to mention possibly helping LIST locate more planets suitable for colonies AND they would be finding a LOT of resources for outposts to be able to harvest (for both me and them). Given the quantity of weapons and armor that we acquire (or have the potential to acquire), I would imagine it would not take much to modernize their security forces... I am sure there are ways they could earn their keep, maybe even actually pay back the value of the engine and equipment. “Allowing”? Don’t be thick. Mental health is even more important in closed quarters, and trying to force that type of thing would lead to trouble. Besides, they cover it by mentioning they could give their reproductive rights to others, or act as a surrogate. The fact they were eliminating the old folks was proof enough they weren’t in danger of being underpopulated. A proper generation ship would also have frozen donations of sperm/eggs in storage for future genetic diversity.

Why don't you play 3th person. I loved Fallout 4 in 3th person, I always liked games in 3th person. The GTA series are my favourite games ever, followed by Fallout 4 as my second favourite game of all times, then Red Dead 1/2, ZBotW/TotK, PUBG, the Diablos, I play them all in 3th person. I hate 1st person games, hated that decision in e.g. Cyberpunk. It doesn't feel more real (well, just, sometimes). I like to see my characters. That was my favourite part in Fallout 4, to collect all types of outfits and weapons to put to my characters and/or to display. Just sometimes at Far Harbor when I was in power armor exploring or hunting weird creatures, I switched to 1st. But please consider 3th person in cities and stuff. You look like playing Doom/Wolfenstein or Call of Duty in 1st.
@Ro-Ghost Жыл бұрын
Oxhorn is well aware of a 3rd person camera in both this game and the fallout series. Some people prefer 1st person, myself included Also, you saying Starfeild first person is like Doom or CoD is like me saying playing 3rd person looks like GTA or Fortnite, it's a silly point.
@simoncallelaverde Жыл бұрын
@@Ro-Ghost Sorry, but it looks just like playing Doom or COD. It is not the same to mention Fortnite, or we would have to mention every game out there. But everyone knows Doom, Wolfenstein, or COD, as classic as they are, they are literally the representation of some of the first 1st person games out there. GTA is not a bad example either, because it is also one of the first 3th person and open world games ever created! It just got the 1st person feature, late for PS4 and that generation. You can do whatever you want, if you like playing in 1st, good for you. But still if I see someone playing GTA just in first person, that person is who would look silly to me. That is typical for streamers to play in 1st person all these games. If you stream PUBG for example, you would never play it in 3th person, you "would not look as pro". But that is dumb. You can play all your games like playing Doom dude. But I still feel these games, i.e. the GTA series or the Fallout games, shouldn't be played 100% in 1st person. It looks silly to me. They are all about creating your character, dressing him/she. They are even like movies and inspired by many of them. And they are and were mainly classic 3th person games. At least switching. But playing Fallout 100% in 1st person? That looks silly to me. I understand Ox while looting, in close places it is way better to loot in 1st person, or for some fights or exploration. But all the time? It just looks boring. I'm not watching these streams anymore. And yet still, everytime Ox switched to 3th or showed his character, it looked the coolest and most apropriate for this game. The rest, it looks like playing Doom or COD! Sorry
@simoncallelaverde Жыл бұрын
@@Ro-Ghost You cannot officially play a Doom game in 3th person, and you can't play any of the GTA games in their original release state in 1st person. They were originally designed in 3th and 1st person respectively. Plus they are incredibly classic. They are classic that way. So it is very understandable to use them as examples. Maybe for someone younger, it looks the same to compare GTA with Fortnite as there are thousands of games out there now. But you know Doom is a 1st person game, and GTA a 3th by default. They are super classic and representative of those genders. The fact that you didn't like my opinion or suggestion because you like 1st, is a different subject.
@Ro-Ghost Жыл бұрын
@simoncallelaverde when did I say that the doom was 3rd person or GTA was 1st person? @simoncallelaverde Жыл бұрын
@@Ro-Ghost Even COD, I would guess you can change to 3rd person nowadays, but it is a representative classic first person shooter game. In the contrary these "open world games" are typically played and created in 3rd person. But now engines are allowing developers to add both and give the option to switch. But it looks silly to go around the open world just in first person, as I said, just like playing Doom.

Well that's the other downside to missions like that ECS Constance. As Oxhorn mentions surprise that no one is asking his character about Galactic History. And that's done because well, the player might not know it. Oddly very few games actually seem to clue in on the proper answer to that. To have the character themselves be the exposition mouthpiece to the player controlling the character. Like... the most common example of this often is Tutorials. Tutorials where in character you are supposed to know things. But because you, as a player, might not know it, you have to have kind of this brain dead moment where your veteran warrior has to ask: "Uh... shields block attacks?" or something. Final Fantasy 7 is the one game I remember getting this right. Which is a funny fake out actually. Your character (Cloud Strife), is said to be this super elite soldier that can basically badass their way through an entire army if it came down to it. And when you run into the Tutorial Shack place, instead of going "Durrr... what's a Status Effect?" or something in a character break? He goes: "Oh, you're all noobs and I'm an experienced soldier, so I'll tell you... and any outside entity that might be witnessing these lectures from beyond... how it works." It's surprising just how few companies figure that out. So because you, the player, might not know why Earth was abandoned or the early colonization experiences or the political factions out there, etc, etc, etc... you can't be asked about it. Instead of just having someone asking: "Hey, what's happening?" and you get an option like "Tell people what you know" and just rattle off things that your character should know... even if you don't.

Ah poor Oxhorn. Value is there because well, Commerce Skill is a thing and various drugs/food you can eat can change your ability to hock stuff. So for Space Oxhorn who has no investment in Commerce and such it'll probably be about 10% of value. If you had Commerce Rank 1 it'd be +10%, and at max ranks it's +25% so you'd be getting about 35% off. If you have food and such that boosts it, then you could be getting about 50% max I believe.
