No one understands poor old Strong (which is why people have such a hard time maxing out his companion status). He doesn't only respect violence. That's only half of his personality. He also loves sharing, in other words, kindness. He says so explicitly at the 'Admire' stage. That's why he likes Minuteman missions as much as Preston does: because he likes to see humans share. He also likes killing them (and there's no contradiction there, because he sees fighting as an expression of respect, like a Klingon).

The irony, of course, is that by giving up violence in order to learn from Rex/find the "milk of human kindness" he's already found it. He's learned violence isn't always the answer. That *IS* the milk of human kindness. It's often MORE advantageous to be diplomatic and work in peace than to always war, trying to take what you want. The ideal personal quest for Strong would be a quest that involves him coming to realize that peace can mean strength.

Skyrim is a fictional time and a fictional place. In Shakespeares time 1600s it was not an insult, the play is based in 11th century Scotland. Milk was essentially a common and vital role for life in medieval Scotland, as it would benefit for both liquid and turning into food like butter or thickening oats. The milk of human kindness isn't an insult because it is "Milk" The insult is actually rather sexist. Women were seen as inferior to men because it was believed a woman couldn't do harm. The milk of human kindness most likely insinuates that Macbeth either was breast feed too much and became more feminine as a result or that he was in fact a woman. Both Kings and peasants of medieval Scotland consumed milk, if they hadn't then they would most likely of died.

Soul Storm Considering they had very little methodology for preserving milk products other than aging it, such as cheese (which wasn’t exactly cheap in some cases), or having your own cattle to get fresh milk from to ingest before it went bad, quickly, (and again not cheap) I don’t believe it was as mainstream as you’re making it seem. Also, I agree with the others in that OP wasn’t necessarily comparing Skyrim history with our history, but simply saying that the term “milk-drinker” is more so based on OUR universe and the type of insults here, with the results kind of dragged over there (being the developers ARE from our universe). There is a mod for WRVR as well, adding a quest, voiced companion and broadcast to the game. As far as Strong goes, I think reaching max affinity with him is the quest. If you don't use the Cannibal perk, it takes a very long time to max him out because he dislikes so many things. In the end he acknowledges you, a human, as his leader. This is important because Strong, unlike past Super Mutant companions, is not an 'intelligent' SM. He is actually an average SM. Because of his confusion about the 'milk,' he follows you around and learns to respect a human. Through you, he learns that humans can be strong, too. One more thing, "STRONG SMASH!"

These are things that puzzles me why they were left out when this same team made Fallout 3 that actually had two radio quests. Agatha's Song (give her the violin from Vault 92 and she will give you a radio frequency to hear her play classical music like from Bach) and Galaxy News Radio (where you repair the dish to allow GNR to be heard throughout the Wasteland). I'm a huge fan of the Herbert Daring Dashwood and Argyle plays from Fallout 3 and so I really missed that here

Also, I find it very disappointing that the game goes nowhere with the "milk of human kindness" thing. There should have been some sort of quest in which you either find/make him some sort of chemical, claiming it's the milk of human kindness, or explain to him that it's a metaphor. And explaining to him that it's a metaphor has a speech check that, if successful, makes Strong understand it and decide to not attack humans anymore, while failing makes him angry and causes him to attack you.

Herman Bogaers I was thinking he would break down and explain why he didn't want to be human again to the player. There are a million stories that could be made well for why he chose to accept being his new self over his human form. I do agree his humor is the best part and would hate to lose that but i think having a good story for him would add a lot of depth to the character. Most likely if he was reverted to his human form he would resemble some roid-rage jock stereotype anyways so he could still be hilarious and pretty strong... just with more story depth lol.

Especially since you find so many options for the "milk" including the Panacea cure from Vault 81 (which would presumably cure even FEV), Cabot's Super Potion, and Virgil's FEV cure. Heck, even a megadose of Day Tripper (far out man!) has potential for options for Strong to direct you to, then reject, on his way to finding the milk (normal Brahmin milk would have been great, since Muties would never think to milk a cow rather than eat the flesh). He could then go be a Super Mutant prophet teaching that you can get endless "liquid white meat" from the Brahmin if you milk them rather than kill them. "Taste better after few days in sun when gets solid like meat and smells like brothers." Just a few quick quest points on the way, a new consumable (which Strong could give you rather than meat after max affinity) and the character would have been MUCH more interesting.

Oakspar Oakspar Interesting quest concept but I believe it should have been about "kindness" and the milk as a metaphor for the help others get. Strong does not drink the milk his kindness that he learned from the sole survivor is the milk that the weak like Fist drinks to become strong like Strong. Quest: strong gets to the "here is my quest" stage and demands to talk. He want the milk of human kindness now. So the player agrees to show him and takes him to a settlement that was previously not an available settlement. A sick mother and child is there and the father has been kidnapped. Ofcourse Strong likes you agreeing to help because Super Mutants help each other so he is halfway there. So you rescue the father and then teach the family to protect themselves kinda like teaching Big Town in FO3 but much more in depth. And you help the mother get healthy so she can help defend. Then You and Strong leave them to their fate and Strong demands to know what it all meant and he didn't see any milk... Raiders, Gunners, or super mutants then attack the settlement(whatever was the group that kidnapped the father) and player tells strong to watch. The settlers prevail and drive the attackers off.. well one or two out of the 15+ that attacked. Strong comments that he thought they were weak but they are actually strong. The player then explains that the kindness given to them was the milk that made them strong. Strong says: "Milk of Human Kindness not drink for Strong?! Kindness is milk for the weak and makes them strong like Strong. Only Strong can give them Milk of Human Kindness because Strong is strong, you can give them too." Strong now wants to help teach all who are weak how to be strong.

I always had an issuse with how little care they took with the followers character growth. They're very stiff and singular (Geez with how nick's dressed I wonder if he's a sleuth that talks in a stereotypical voice. Oh he has anmesia? like most robots in rpgs?) I sadly didn't enjoy their character as much as I wanted; it'sa shame too cause people are always talking how lacking they are and I enjoy learning about how different the characters can be, I hope they can learn from this and not rush their creative writing and interesting characters they made in the past.

A quick visit to Virgil and a week or so without Strong as a companion, and he might be better off for it. I'd like to think that Strong would mentally grow, and insist on staying mostly a mutant. This eventually leads to him returning to the tower, and with the help of Virgil, making a settlement of more intelligent mutants. A safe haven of sorts, and a trade center on the bottom floor. After a while you start to see the walls and floors being built up. Strong would be willing to leave and accompany you still, but would insist that you try negotiating with the mutants, which basically requires carrying around meat treated by Virgil, and a lot of high speech check yelling, which could be a pain. Ultimately it's the only way to get more mutant settlers, so it's worth it, along with the moral bonus. Eventually you could talk with the radio workers and, with an adapted Strong and speech checks, get them to go to the roof and operate from there, sort of like that mutant town in New Vegas. If you have enough unassigned mutant settlers, you could send them over to move the radio tower itself to the top of the skyscraper. Then again, this sounds more like a mod....

How cool would it have been if Virgil, instead of hiding in a cave, instead used his intelligence to become a leader of a semi-peaceful super mutant town with an anti-synth/courser policy thanks to being the literal only one in the Commonwealth smart enough to do so? And the FEV cure would be a moral dilemma of him abandoning his new mutant friends and ultimately dooming them to fall apart from a lack of sensible leadership, or convincing him that being a mutant isn't all bad and that he doesn't need a FEV cure to prove to others that he's not a "freak".

Definitely a missed opportunity with Virgil. You could talk to him and say that he could help Mutants and give peaceful ones a place to thrive. The radio tower would be their new home and Virgil could get on the radio and announce that Super Mutants aren't all evil and he has created a settlement where peaceful humans, ghouls, and Super Mutants can live there. It would be nice to give a new life goal for Virgil and telling him "What if your body doesn't hold up under the stress of transforming back ? You've been a Mutant for too long and so what if your internal organs collapse ?" This would be a side note to him and you could either tell him to take the vial or encourage him to put it in a safe and try to help others like him.

Something interesting happened after rescuing Strong. I started with my first synth rescue in the Railroad, where you have to fight off raiders. I ended up getting some help from Rex. Apparently, he hadn't made it back home yet and the path between the church and Ticonderoga happens to cross the path he takes to get back to the station.

Strong actually had the potential to be a fairly deep character had they actual given you dialogue options in explaining what the milk is. Since he protected Rex, and travels around helping you protect the Commonwealth, he technically already has it and it could of been an interesting conversion when you tell him that.

Strong is actually my favorite companion. I think he's a charming character (ironic considering he's a super mutant) and he gets a little emotional when you reach the highest affinity with him. It's quite touching. Also he has the best non-power armor carrying capacity of all companions and he's a tank in battle which makes him practical as well as a great character. Perfect companion material.

Small sidenote. The Trinity Tower quest is one of the very rare places where there will be a save in Survival mode without needing to sleep. Found it on the Xbox One.
