The way jacob delivers the "she asked if I was an angel" line is devastating. Despite how selfish and fucked up it is, I can't help but feel for him. I just love how they keep adding layers and nuance to these characters. Show of all time

That's probably how he sees himself. Louis's self esteem is always pretty low 😢 And that's how he becomes a "battered spouse".

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that we get Lestat's version of the story. So far we've only seen Lestat through the eyes of Louis, Claudia and Armand, and they all succeed in painting him out to be a monster. I feel like getting Lestat's side will humanize him in a way. Can't wait for season 3 ♥️

It was really eye opening to see a bit of truth about Lestat. I like him even more now. He is a monster in terms of Louis, but not as much as Louis made him out to be. I found it interesting to see the “evil” side of Louis and the much more human, caring and loving side of Lestat. Really well done by both actors.

And why does no one talk about the absolutely cruelty of Louis and Claudia trying to kill him?!!! Lestat would have never EVER hatched a plot to kill Louis or even Claudia despite their problematic relationship. They did him really dirty

@@juanitamutisa1817 I slightly disagree with the killing of Lestat bit you mentioned. Claudia knew she would never be able to leave, and that her whole purpose was to be there for Louis. Lestat was also at times, a cruel man toward her. He verbally told Claudia that he would “turn her bones to dust” if she ever left again. She just tried doing it to him before he could do it to her. He resented her (which now that I know more of the whole truth about Lestat’s role, I don’t blame him quite as much) and treated her like a burden. (Ex; He told her, “We endure eachother for Louis’ happiness.” after she said “You don’t want me. You made me for Louis.”) With that being said there were definitely multiple times where I somewhat agreed with Lestat treatment of her as a parent, simply because she needed a hard parent that she couldn’t get one over on. Examples: her unaliving spree where she sloppily left bodies all of the place, her unaliving that boy she liked (cruel treatment of forcing her to watch the boy burn, but I kind of understand it. She needed to see and remember what happened when she did things like that) Seconds before Lestat found out that they were successfully able to kill him, he tried to kill Claudia, and held Louis there to watch. He also beat Louis up when Louis wanted to leave, and dropped him 2 kilometres from the sky. But again, now that I know Louis told Lestat that he’d unalive Lestat before the sky fall… Louis being only beat up and not unalived must have said to him that Lestat loved him and would have never unalived him, but it must’ve been hard to see considering the severity of the beating. Also, there’s the big factor that started it all: Louis was taken advantage of by Lestat when Lestat turned him. Louis is the victim overall. Lestat saw an attractive and interesting man who was depressed, friendless, lonely, familial and city outcast, who was a victim of racial oppression and turned him into a vampire. Not only did this not make things better for Louis like he promised, it made them worse. So I definitely can see a love/bond so strong they could never unalive Lestat, but also a hate so strong that they just had to because they were suffocating.

I like how not only Sam’s portrayal makes the mood of the scene totally different, but his whole look is softer due to the gorgeousssss hair, different lenses and makeup. It truly feels like a different POV

yes! in louis's pov he looks angry and stiff and his hair is frizzy and a mess. but in lestat's own pov he looks softer and calmer and his hair is smooth and longer. It really makes you think about where else did louis portray lestat as angry and mean when in fact he wasn't! I CANNOT wait for season 3!

I just realized that Lestat was thinking about Nicholas when he was shouting to Louis about loving her and how she'll be miserable, and that it will spiral out of control- perhaps thats how it unfolded with his first love. Nicky probably already had some dormant mental health problems before being turned, vampirism seemed to bring them out, and Lestat could do nothing but watch Nicky decline until he walked into the fire. I cant wait till season 3. So many questions to be answered.

2:07 i love how he's not talking about claudia, he's talking about nicki. "she will be miserable, and you will love her, and it will spiral beyond your reach." nicki was miserable, and lestat's love for him couldn't keep him from his death. and ON THE HEELS of louis bringing up lestat's fear of abandonment right after he's going through the flashback of being abandoned by nicki. "i''ll stay. please, i'll never leave you, ever again," and "please, i'll be anything," and how can he not help but inadvertently repeat his mistakes with nicki, changing claudia, to help them from repeating with louis? season 3 is going to be incredible when we hear more about this

Even from s1, I knew we couldn't trust Louie's pov. He was pissed off at Lestat and plus all the trauma he'd been through. What sealed the deal for me was when Daniel pointed out Louie removed Claudia's journal entries that didn't match with his story and ignored Daniel when he told him Claudia extensively wrote about her anger/hatred for him. Yet Louie continued to act like they were a happy family. Claudia was correct in s2 when she said he becomes stupid when he gets a partner because he was just as delusional with Armand when the ultimate betrayal was in plain sight once the trial began.

​@@ananousousI see what you mean, but at some point their relationship became really strained and when Claudia found a companion, Louis took it as the perfect opportunity to kind of break free from that dysfunctionalality while also pursuing a relationship with Armand. It was supposed to be a perfect end to Louis and Claudia. In the end it's Armand who's to blame for what happened to Claudia.

Now, wait a minute. First of all, don't tell me this! I'm crying again 😭. Secondly, I do think he wanted to save her. Two things can be true. Remember, Louis felt a fault for the town's people being attacked by an action he did. He did, however, have a selfish motivation because of that. But I think they all mingle together: Feeling guilty about the fire, wanting to save a young Black girl's "life", using Lestat to do it (guilt by proxy from Lestat turning Louis, thereby leading to this incident), family, forgiveness, betrayal. ..all that jazz 😂. But, yeah, I CRIED 😢😫😥 my eyes out at Louis pulling that poor defeated girl around the room like that. My heart sunk. Never watched that scene again.

how can you see louis, on his knees, begging lestat, telling him, “i’ll be whatever you want, i’ll do whatever you want. i’ll never leave” and think louis is in control? what louis did to claudia is irresponsible and selfish but his relationship with claudia has nothing to do with possession. he feels a deep sense of guilt and this action is done in a desperate attempt at salvation and redemption. he projects onto claudia initially but eventually understands how he wronged her. thats why he turns madeline for claudia. if this action is so evil, then so is lestat coercing louis into vampirism so he could be his companion when louis was at his lowest and most vulnerable. that action set in motion the deep grief, loneliness and conflict of morality that led louis to make claudia.

Sam's French accent on English is pitch perfect. His French accent on French would only trip up a native speaker. His face acting? Unparalleled. He is brilliant in this part. As is Jacob, whose voice control is breathtaking.

I have so many thoughts on Lestat and Claudia's relationship now. 1. He basically prohisiezed what was going to happen - pain ans anxiety will be her only birthright. You will regret this for as long as you live, maybe he was so cold towards Claudia because he new she would eventully self disctruct. 2. Maybe he stopped her from going to Europe because he knew she would be seen as an abomination. 3 Maybe he didn't educate Louis and Claudia on the laws for that reason and selfishly he knew that with knowledge would come distance (like him and Armand)

Ya know the looks they give Louis, Daniel at 2:39 and Armand at 2:53, feels like they are having the same thoughts on Louis pushing that fate on to Claudia. I think it's one the few times Armand isn't putting on performance either. Both of the knew it was kind of f'd up. It's a strange moment of them being in silent agreement about something tho I don't think they would acknowledge it. Stellar acting from everyone. Especially Sam Reid in both versions as Lestat.

This scene is the reason why Lestat is a wiser person than Louie. It highlights that Lestat a good person. He maybe blunt and brutal but it’s not without reason. He understood how horrible it would be for Claudia being stuck in a teenage body for eternity. Where as Louie didn’t care. He only cared about easing his own guilt over what he’d done. At the end of the day Lestat was right, Claudia wind up being miserable.
