And this scene is the reason i sing "oh joy oh boy where do we go from here?" for sarcasm in awkward situations 😂

Nobody has perfect memory, this has been made explicitly clear. Everyone is an unreliable narrator, even Claudia's diaries. They are all deeply traumatized. Putting this in the framework of abuser vs abused is a misinterpreting imo, especially knowing the inspiration behind the work (Anne Rice's loss of a child). It is two people who do not have the ability to love each other but cannot sever their connection, and so they make each other miserable, often intentionally, because anger is better than numbness. I've never seen any mention that Anne Rice's marriage was abusive and Lestat served as her stand-in. She did not write these characters as monster and victim, but as flawed individuals who take out their pain on one another, always skewing the blame to the other. I'm not excusing DV ever but these are fictional, super human vampires written as an outlet for family trauma, it's not meant to be as cut and dry as so many people make it.

i have read all the books and i’m writing my master’s thesis on vampire chronicles. anne rice was not lestat in the story. in the first book she was louis. that’s why she couldn’t write louis in the following books as much because louis represents her grief over her daughter. then she slowly morphed into lestat as she kept writing. those are her words. “two people who do not have the ability to love each other” is wrong too. you couldn’t misunderstand loustat more if you tried. in their family, the generational trauma and the abundance of love is the reason they hurt each other so much and yet [SPOILERS] louis and lestat are endgame at the end of the book series and that’s why despite lestat being “dead” in season 2, the cast and crew still focused on loustat as a couple more and wrote additional lestat scenes despite him not appearing that much after “dying”, until he comes back. when he comes back in the books, the main character becomes lestat and louis occasionally appears in the books and their scenes are so tender and loving, they keep grieving for claudia until the end of the series together. the cast and crew are preparing the viewers for what is canon: that louis and lestat will be together at the end because they’re each others’ one true love.

When he said it was “never you.” Did he mean that to hurt or console her? Because it can cut both ways.

I'm rereading The Vampire Lestat at the moment and realising Lestat is truly a product of his upbringing. No spoilers, but there's so many things they've woven through his interactions with Louis and Claudia that are informed by past events and traumas which Lestat describes in the second novel. Both bad and good. As a human Lestat would probably never break out of the negative patterns of behaviour he has inherited and perpetuated, but as a vampire he has time to learn and change.

This was the first time we actually saw them fight, all along Claudia only saw them arguing. It's like if a child witnesses their parents being abusive to each other and then one parent goes overboard naturally they're going to take the side of their favorite parent...... But she hated Lestat with a passion lol

Louis only fought to protect his daughter, he literally said he was gonna choke Lestat just like Lestat did to their daughter, he was fighting to protect his child, not because he wanted to be violent or to come off as creepy, his daughter begged for help and he risked his life to help his child after Lestat threw her.

It’s important to note that S1’s depiction of Claudia’s birth is Daniel’s interpretation of Claudia’s journal entry, not Louis’ own retelling. Remember Louis was out resting and Armand brought the journals out for Daniel in that episode?
