There definitely are those people who go through work and life trying to convince everyone how serious they are by scowling. Oddly enough, 33 years in the Army I had very few senior leaders like this. If leaders have to compete with each other based on the effectiveness of there units, the scowlers lose. It’s like CPT Sobel in Band of Brothers, you lose the buy in of subordinate leaders if you aren’t approachable and show a sense of humor. Nothing pulls a unit together more than laughing together.
