Is there an option to purchase the WE66 Obsidian without the base or stones?

Yes, both are possible. Please contact support@wickededgeusa.com and we can get you set up.

You need to make two pieces of 1/8 steel with a slot in it and drilled and tap into the main body so it can be slid up to the bottom of the knife so it doesn't slide down when sharpening I did this and it works great on my system

Did you check your Belleville washer stack? Mine came one washer short. After I added the missing washer, the vise clamped tighter.

@robertcalkjr.8325 vise is ok sharpening a full flat grind if you pash harder to aggressively remove metal the knife slides down in the vice no matter how tight it is my design eliminates that completely also you don't have to clamp so tight.

@@sal1964 I wonder where the 8325 after my name came from? I guess I would need to see some pictures to see what's going on for sure. You may be missing a Belleville washer though. The WE paper shims help and sometimes I use pigskin leather for a shim. Oh well, Clay will find out what's happening. You don't need to use much pressure with diamond stones. And if you need to remove a lot of steel then I recommend the 50/80 stones. They save a lot of time and elbow grease.
