Clay bar alternative, plumbers putty as a clay bar

I tried the plumbers putty as a replacement for a clay bar, based on a video I watched, and it seemed to work really well.

I just did my first clay bar job with plumber's putty. I'll never go back. That stuff is STICKY! Next time I'll wear gloves.

I wonder if Plasti-Tak would work? (I hope other countries call it this... it holds posters, etc, on the wall) It seems like about the right consistency, and is not water based. It is certainly cheaper!

Bro i hope you translate my comment, te recomiendo cambiar el nombre del video por algo mas llamativo, vi otro video igual al tuyo con mas visitas, lo que hicistes con el plumber putty creo que funciona, quizas deberias usar un titulo como, ya no uses mas clay bar, or clay bar alternative 2 dolars cost

The point is that I'm showing the process of using the plumbers putty in place of a regular clay bar, I wasn't showing me doing the whole car, THAT would have been pointless.

DO NOT do it. It will scratch your finish. There is a lot of BS on the Internet and this is one of them. Use the clay bar.

Well, it seemed to work just fine for me, I didn't see any scratches, and it polished up quite nicely. Are you a clay bar salesmen?
