Umpire Bernardes schooling young Rune was priceless
@miragowaikar98
@miragowaikar98 Жыл бұрын
I honestly think that was him trying to help Rune out because in that situation, Rune really didn't do anything wrong. There are a lot of crowds that show bias towards their own countrymen and thats fair. What isn't fair is booing a player when they hasn't done anything wrong. I do feel that it was advice that was given to him because Bernardes has seen a lot crowds having a very strong preference for one of the players. Not defending Runes normal behavior but respectfully saying that in this situation Rune wasn't the problem.

Umpire should've explained to Ymer why he wasn't going to check the mark, which was because Ymer apparently requested it too late, which is subjective but still holds merit, umpire didn't explain that at all and only stated that he saw the ball on the line and looked to the other side which is why he wasn't checking the mark, which is obviously not in the umpire handbook. Nonetheless smashing the ump chair was a tad too far 😅😅
@pooolish334
@pooolish334 Жыл бұрын
He said that to him, hence why Ymer told him that in the previous match Gasket walked over to the other side of the court and still was in time to call the umpire to check a mark. And that action took more time than what Ymir did. I would agree he was a bit late for the marked to be checked but these Umpires have such a blurry way to accept calls that sometimes it gets infuriating. But Ymer def overreacted.

It's not as much about time as it is the events that happened after. If the ball mark in question is the final hit of the rally, then you can take plenty of time to make the challenge. The issue with Ymer's challenge is that he attempted to play the ball and then decided to challenge only after he saw that his shot was sailing long. You can't give yourself two opportunities to win the point. If he believed that the shot was out, he needed to have stopped play right then and made the challenge.

Regarding number 3. Rune let the ball go because he were sure it were out. (Rune were at the ball and could have hit it had it been his choice, but he were certain and right) Ref called it good. Hawk eye on TV (not used on the court) showed it very clearly out by several centimetres. Ref were wrong. Rune were right, it were clear out! Later in the same match it were Djoko that had a screaming contest with the ref because he got a pretty fast code violation for serving to slow but problem were that the umpire started the clock early. That umpire had a bad day. Rune won the match! It was a brilliant match where both Djoko and Rune played some killer tennis!

No offence, but give me a break. That is not a tough gig. Chair Umpires make ~$3700 a match at Grand Slam events. Rune was right when he said, "when we do a mistake we get a fine--you don't." When a chair umpire blows a call like Mohammed Lahyani did at 16:42, nothing happens to reverse the damage, so I'm not sure where the "big responsibility" enters into it..

@@tswrench I mean they earn millionaires of dollars by playing what most of them like, it's their job, while Umpires don't get much money, don't get any fame, so players have to be calm, and give a good example of human being instead of being pussies, it's just funny how millionaires crying about losing a few thousands because they overreact, if you are better, you will earn what you deserve, if you are bad, just stop playing :)
@tswrench

@@CRASH9808 -- Based on what you wrote I get the impression that you've no idea how hard a pro tennis player has to work to succeed. Nor, it seems, do you understand the focus one must have to play that sport at that level only to have some guy sitting in a chair break your focus by missing an obvious call that robs you of something--a point, a game, a set, a match, your ranking, money, etc.... Apparently, you see players as a bunch of ooh la la millionaires out prancing around for a little exercise. Nothing is further from the truth They're only human with a lot riding on their successes and failures. I don't like to see them abuse chair umpires, but it's equally galling to listen to a chair umpire justify their bad calls only to have Hawkeye prove them wrong on a little inset screen on your TV--and that's after the point you've just won has been awarded to your opponent.

The thing is, when you hit a shot like that, you should be aware of where your opponent is (even if it isn't against the rules to hit him). Is a respect thing. Also, you don't want to be known for the player that hit another player in the face with the ball because of your unawareness. @ 23:17 It’s so sad that a country such as Sweden with such a rich tennis tradition featuring legendary all time great players, Borg, Wilander, Edberg, true class acts, true gentlemen now only has a no talent, low class mongrel like Ymer out there representing Sweden. Ymer shouldn’t be given the honor and privilege of playing for Sweden. Ymer should represent ETHIOPIA.

If Novak hadn't turned his back on Norrie he could've easily deflected the ball with his racket. Hell, it may have even landed in. But no, Djokovic has to play "the cool guy" and walk away from the point as if it had already finished. You would never see this kind of on-court behavior from Nadal or Federer.

If you think you have no chance to return the ball, most players turn around. Don't say if Nadal or Federer never do that.

I am not a fan of Djokovic but that is such a weird take. Shows that you are definetly a hater. It's because the ball is so short there is literally no way Norrie can loose the point unless he hits it in the net. Hence Djokovic saw the point as finished but Norrie somehow still managed to hit him. I would assume a pro would have better peripheral vision but maybe he just wanted to hit him.

@@bigfriki You didn't watch tennis match so you didn't know. Nadal or Federer didn't do that because they don't have sense of humour.
